Once you're in London, I wouldn't worry about the terrorist situation at all. It's pretty safe here and no more dangerous as far as terrorism goes than say being in New York or LA.
I think the biggest worry at the moment is the plane. You're probably safest if you're not flying with an American airline but if you are then I still don't think it's too dangerous. At the moment, security has been really stepped up and a lot of people are saying it's the safest time to fly because of that. Also, hopefully the terrorists will be on the back foot at the moment having had some big plans foiled so recently. At the very least, it take them a while to organise themselves again.
In any case, let's not let these terrorists win by letting them dictate the way we live our lives.

I honestly think it would be fine, although the security at the airports at the moment is an absolute pain (it takes AGES!). Terrorism really isn't a huge scare here, although I can understand how media reports meake London look besieged! To keep it in perspective, like any big city anywhere in the world, petty crime is the main trouble, not terrorism, for most people! London itself is actually far less bomb-hit than it was about 12 years ago, when the IRA were having their major bombing campaign (I used to work in a department store in central London back then and we had about 5 bomb threats a day, on average, and we had to locate devices too, very scary). At the moment it is normally bomb scares (a phone call saying there is a bomb when there isn't) and not actual devices.

London is as safe as any other city in the world, so you should not worry the terrorist threat. Instead, just come here and have a great time. There is so much to see and do for both adults and children alike. I hope you enjoy your visit.

Unfortunately, terrorists can strike at any time, anywhere. I don't mean to cause concern, but personally, if I'm going to die, I'd want my son with me, then I'd know he wouldn't be left an orphan. Ok, so that's morbid, but its the truth. Terrorists have had 5 years to attack as since that fateful day in 2001. London seems to be quite on top of their terroristic troubles...so, go, enjoy yourself. Say your prayers though, for peace of mind if nothing else.

Oh Pleeeeease!!!!! - Get over it - so we've had a few bombs so what??? People who lived in London during WW2 had bombs day and night for years. They didn't ask your ridiculous question - they just got on with their lives as normal as was possible.
