If you go into something KNOWING you are going to fail, why do it or get involved in it? How ever, if you do NOT know for a fact you are going to fail, you need to think about the facts. Is there a chance you will fail? Why?
Is it just because you are a pessimist? A lot of times we discount our abilities, but I'm here to tell you, I have had a lot of opportunities to discover I was capable of more than I gave myself credit for! Keep the faith, believe in yourself! :)

Optimism takes place before the outcome has been decided. Naturally there comes a point when even an optimist must recognize that there is no possibility of success.
For example, you can be optimistic about making rent, but if rent is due in 24 hours and you haven't put the check in the mail, even an optimist must accept that failure is about to take place.

Being optimistic is being positive and doing the best that you can do and if you do that, then you never fail - if you are true to urself and do things to the best of your ability then that is never failure - ever - don't think like that. Hope for the best, try the best, see the glass as half full, put in 110% and you can never, ever call yourself a failure. If at first you don't suceed, try , try again - the old saying goes.
Failure is giving up -

By maintaining a good attitude, smile, and then laugh at yourself for getting in the situation in the first place.
Example: I helped cater a wedding and the cake collapsed and the flowers I made wilted. I saw both things coming and there was nothing I could do but be cheeful and upbeat for the sake of the bride and groom. While everyone else was running around freaking out, I chopped the cake into huge pieces and slapped it onto plates saying "It'll be great, guys". It became our slogan..."no worries, it;ll be great". Funny thing is, noone noticed that the cake collapsed or the flowers wilted...but they do remember how delicious and "generous" the cake portions were!
(Before the reception, we borrowed one of those styrofoam sample cakes from the grocery store bakery and put fresh flowers on it. We wheeled it into the kichen and wheeled out the "collapsed" cake sliced and plated. Noone but the caterers knew what happened, and the Bride laughed when she found out what we did!)

Failure means not reaching the end goal that has been defined for a particular event, if for some reason one fails that is doesnt reach the final goal, he still have travelled a long way to achieve that goal and gained lot of first hand knowledge, this is the take away.
And one learns how not to do things.

Its useless to say that failure is the pillar of success etc, etc, all of us know that & yet feel bad when we fail.
So, when u fail, try to observe how much u r hurt for not getting that which u tried for, see whether the hurt is only for insult, incapability or missing the opportunity.
If it is the last one, try to find out urself, where u think u missed out something, try for a second time,
but if it is the first two, then try to analyse how much u r looking for that opportunity & understand that that was not ur cup of tea.
For example, Shakespeare was wonderful in writing but not in boxing, try to find out in which field u r wonderful.

What doesn't kill us only makes us stronger. Learn from failure. Blink your eyes and re-boot yourself. Be in the moment. And, do your best to see each moment as good unto itself, and fresh, and rich with possibilities. You can be awake and alive and optimistic in each moment of your life. Or, you can choose to be numb and dying and hopeless in any moment of your life. It is up to you and you alone.

You could take heart that R. H. Macy failed five times before his famous Macy's department store chain became a success! Try, fail, get up, repeat.

'Ignorance is Bliss'
Remember "The Matrix' dialogue.
If you know what's going to happen, it stings all the time.
But what I had experienced is that you should look for the reasons (or probable reasons) which will make you fail. Consider them as your weapon for the next Battle. UNLESS it is your ONE AND ONLY CHANCE be ALIVE.
