The rich have the money to get around the law, change the law, or to change the minds of those deciding what the law is.

Money is a powerful thing. But only because we let it be.

I would rather have cash money than a cashless monetary system anyday however.

The constitution protects the right to personal property. Beyond that, lawyers are expensive so the rich have an advantage.

But it isn't only the law that protects the rich. Catholic religious doctrine teaches one to be satisfied with his station in life.

In some ways, the law does protect everyone equally, and the disadvantaged more: bankruptcy law, even after its 2005 changes that made it difficult to escape medical, credit card and divorce bills, provides an outlet for the poor, not the rich. Family law, education law, public safety and employnment law, the law of personal status, patent law -- aside from the cost of lawyers, these provide benefits to all.

The rich have always been able to use their resources to escape the rule of law. Been that way forever and will be that way forever. Just the way it is...

The rich use their money to get around the law, change the law, or to influence those that can change the law to the advantage of the rich.

Money is a very powerful thing. Will always be so.

I'm not sure what we could do differently.

It is the poor, uneducated thug that usually wants to steal from people with money. People with money do not have to steal from the poor SO -
I guess the law DOES protect the rich.

look at the case with oj simpson. look at how the prez and his govt entities get by with illegal and unlawful violation of civil liberties.look at the scam of enron and other persons get by with extorting millions from investors. the chances are good you will get convicted if you are poor and cannot afford those high dollar attys.our forefathers that established our constitutional rights didnt want the poor to suffer. it happens on a daily basis. there was no such thing as plea- bargins in their days. if you done a crime-- you do the time no matter if you were rich or poor. nowadays its a different scenario. the poor get incarcerated. the rich get probation or small jail time

The legal system works for all, but people with more money can achieve better outcomes with it is more truthful.
Someone is not really working the legal system when they pay many thousands of dollars to get an outcome, because that is the trade off.
