I was wondering how much money you can make by playing guitar in a restaurant or club. I am good at playing Jazz, and I have heard that there are several opportunities for people like me in LA.

Good luck in LA... there are hundreds of people trying to do the same thing. I manage a bar (on the East Coast though), and regularly book our entertainment acts. For a solo artist with little to no following, be happy if someone offers you $150.

Playing at small clubs/restaurants usually does not yield a large amount of cash, although they pay pretty consistent + tips. It also depends on LA's restaurant scene and how good they are. (+ how good you are ;-)

depends where you live man. my family has a house down in md, the one bar pays 800 dollars to a band for a show. while other places get payed by covers, ect. but in la, that might be hard to book a show bro.

Your right and it depends entirely on the venue.
and of course your talent and ability to bring in the regulars.
