I recently found a very old book in excellent condition in a used bookstore for 50 cents. It is a hardcover copy of Shakespeare's "King Lear," published in 1940.
Does anyone think it might be worth anything?
Jus wondering.....
And I wasn't sure where to post it, so I just put it in "hobbies and crafts". If I should put it someplace else, let me know.

It may not be worth much now but it will be. To keep it in good condition--place it in a large plastic bag (I use the freezer bags).
Keep it in a safe dry place--avoid direct sunlight.

I have kept "People" magazines that where dedicated to Princess Di before her death. Each year there worth increases.
These items worth is dependent on collectors--and you have something collectors like.

Good Luck!

Not much books from Shakespeare are not worthmuch unless it from the 1800s there are some exceptions but they are expensive and most bookstores would recognize them and put them aside.

That is valuable because it is an antique, especially if your a fan of shakespear, but i don't think it is worth anything like money. But if your thinking of selling it again (hehe) try to place it in the business category, maybe a historian or a literary freak would love to buy it in a higher price. wat do you think?

Is it a first edition? You might want to go to an antique web page particulary one from the UK and see if it has any value.
