It's hard to fathom where the Bucks are coming from, other than building around All-Star shooter Michael Redd and young center Andrew Bogut. To trade T.J. Ford, Joe Smith and Jamaal Magloire is to not only move key players for the franchise, but three high-quality leaders as well. They weren't expected to make the playoffs last season, and yet they did. Ford, coming back full blast from his spinal injury, was an inspiration to not only the team but fans, too. Now, they're counting on the likes of Mo Williams, Steve Blake and Charlie Bell — none of those guys have proven to be capable of being legit starting point guards. A three-headed point guard scenario doesn't work, either.
They'll get plenty of energy from Ruben Patterson, along with problems with his erratic behavior. They don't know if Charlie Villanueva will ever reach his massive potential, but he'll sure look good not trying. And it's nice to have Brian Skinner back, if only because he's a good guy and brought Korean center Ha Seung-In — a great watercooler topic — along with him from Portland. They were a young and exciting team last season, with a good chance of moving up a rung with experience. Instead, they've shaken the chemistry again. Was it really worth the gamble?

The Bucks have the misfortune of being in what may be the toughest division in the NBA (along with the South West division in the western conference). Bogut should continue to develop, and Michael Redd is one of the better shooting guards in the league. I really liked the trade for Villanueva, because he showed a great deal of promise during the second half of last season in Toronto. If you can trade a good frontcourt player for a good backcourt player, you need to pull the trigger, and that's what the Bucks did. It also allows the team to move Bogut to the center position, where he should be more effective. However, the point guard position is a major concern, as is a lack of quality depth. Team management also seems to be uncertain of what direction they want to take the franchise (as is evident by the almost constant turn over of players). Even if Milwaukee is fortunate enough to make the playoffs this coming season (as probably a seven or eight seed), they will lose in the first round. I think they would almost be better off missing the playoffs, and trying to secure a higher lottery pick in next seasons draft.

im from milwaukee, and recently ive been disgusted by some of the moves GM Larry Harris made.
Buts Got:
G Steve Blake
F/C Brian Skinner
G/F Rueben Patterson
F Charlie Villanueva
F Ha Seung-Jin
Bucks Lose:
G T.J. Ford
F/C Jamal McGloire
F Joe Smith
Joe Smith was a very good defender, and i hated to see him go, he defended Ben Wallace, Tyson Chandler, DeSanga Diop, Amare Stoudamire, Tim Duncan and even Shaq!

They may have set themselves up for the future by bringing in Villenueva and getting rid of Magloire, but I don't know how far they will get this season with such an inexperienced frontcourt. Second year players tend not to be good defenders. Fortunately, they do have Gadzuric and Skinner to back Bogut and Villenueva up, and those two guys are good defenders. I think they will be fighting for the last two playoff spots with the majority of the other teams in the East.

Haha coming from a sparkling jersey nets fan, the bucks will probobly make the playoffs thinking they're contained in the east. Redd and RJ will produce round 24-25 ppg. Bogut probobly like 15 and 11. It seems ok on paper, yet we ought to ensure. btw letting flow of mo williams and getting ridnour became a mistake.

The Bucks might do all right, but they do not have the depth to do much in the playoffs if they do in fact reach that level of the season. On any given night, the Bucks can compete with any team. It's just a matter of them gelling to compete with teams night in and night out.

Wont even make the playoffs. I think that need to get their act together and maybe in 1 or 2 seasons they will be able to make the playoffs not necessarily win the title but they will get better as time goes on.

It's a ways to go before basketball season. I think they'll do fairly well, probably make it to the playoffs again. Tho, I've been mad @ them since they traded away Ray Allen. at least they have a cute white guy tho.
