hello everyone, i really want to go, but i am reconsidering because my family has made it clear to me that they dont think i can do it. they also simply dont want me to move 3000 miles away. that is there main reason. i am very independant and very mature. should i do it anyway. the reason i am moving is for a betterment of my life .. cali has a lot of opportunity...... help! also, my grandmother is old, and i think my family wants me to wait until she is passed, but she is semi-healthy and that could be 10 years! what do i do?

Depending on your back ground I would say YES!!!!!!!!! 10 years ago I had never been to AZ. I lived in Chicago. Got a job interview out in AZ. That was my first trip. 10 days later I packed my car and drove out here. Like I said, it's been 10 years. I am established in my career, bought a house dirt cheap, and made great money on it because the market went crazy.

All that being said, I had just graduated from a trade school and had a job lined up, and I was 26 years old. If you are a 16 year old high school dropout who's planning on "making it big" in Hollywood, FORGET IT. But, If you have your crap together, I.E. an education, a job lined up out there, a place to live, etc. I would DEFINITELY DO IT. What's the worst that could happen. You move out there, the job sucks, you don't like it, so YOU MOVE BACK HOME. There's no shame in doing that. To me that would show maturity on your part for realizing "it just wasn't for you"............................However, if it works out it can be a beautiful thing. It worked out great for me..........................

GOOD LUCK

P.S. As a funeral director I can tell you that you should never halt your plans on the premise that you or your family is afraid someone may pass. We never know when that will happen. You have to live your life. If something happens and your grandmother passes, you can always go back home. I've had to twice since moving here. I'm sure your grandmother would want you to be happy and follow your dreams............Just make sure you are indeed prepared, it's a big step

That is a personal choice, and there is no right answer. I bet you could find a lot of new friends if you move across the country to go to a different school. But, you may not want to leave the friends that you already have. Of course, you could still stay in contact through e-mail or on the telephone, but it is not the same. I have moved around the country quite a bit, and I like going new places and meeting new people.

Ur going to move to Cali GOOD Luck!! I moved from Cali to Texas with my husband and I am amazed at the housing market and the cost of living. that stuff is very important. Average home in Cali is 500000 and average rent is 1400+ watch out. Cali is great to visit but to expensive to live. Get a good job or have someting lined up. Cali has different types of opportunity for everyone but even 12 an hour is nothing out there. Get ur education and get everything together b4 u go. As for ur family, I left my parents in cali and it was hard but I HAD TO MOVE ON just like u feel u need to. Do what makes u happy after all u wont be with ur parents forever its u that has to live with ur choices.

Explore live as you are young. I don't know which part of the country you are coming from. But are you equipped with what's it needed to be successful here ? There are opportunites but there are competition also.

Depends on which part of Cali you will be heading, the living cost can be very high. Be prepare for the housing cost, if you can live with relatives or something, you will be better off.

Air flight to east coast is only 5 hours. So within a day, you can get home from west to east.

Hey, if you do well here, you can take your grandma here. I think we have the best weather in U.S.

Good luck and see you here.

think carefully about it, weigh the good stuff with the bad stuff, doube check every detail and then make your choice.
I did and am now on the other side of the world, if that is what you want, which is usually a change, then why not.
good luck !
