I know what you mean...luckily, I am waay past having to deal with that scene. I was never a big drinker..I dabbled in it when I was a senior in high school, but it wsn't my thing. I like to be in control of myself, and when one drinks, they are not in control of themself (that is if they are getting drunk, which is the type of people we are talking about here...not all people who drink are out of control...because they are more responsible about it)..anyway, I am a girl who wasn't that big on drinking, so we are out there, trust me. And if you are about to start college, then lucky you, you will find a gal who shares your feelings about drinking.....I wish you luck with college (best time of your life, wether or not you drink) and with finding the right girl. :::hugs:::

When I was 18, I used to think the exact same thing! I understand completely. However, I'm 24 now, been done with school for a few years, and now when I go out, yeah, I drink some. Is it necessary to drink? Not really, but just like someone said, it does help you relax and you eventually grow a taste for it. Does it instantly give you a good time? Not necessarily. There are some people who really shouldn't drink! They talk way too much and really just bring themselves down! However, most people open up and become friendly after a few drinks. If we drink enough, sometimes we do stupid things, but they're generally things we'd probably never do sober and always have fun remembering. Personally, when I go out, I try to drink a couple of beers before I approach the ladies. It helps.
I've been "tipsy" but never, ever drunk to the point where I get headaches the next day. There's no reason for that. You just have to drink responsibly. Not too much, and definately not too much Coors Light. That stuff is usually the cheapest, but it will give you the craps the next morning. Horrible, burning dumps... Also, start off with the light beer-- especially if you're a health conscience person like me. Miller Lite only has 96 calories a can. That's less than Pepsi. And don't drink too much on an empty stomach or you're gonna get sick!
Anyway, man, you don't have to drink. Everyone respects the designated driver. Your friends need you! My advice is to stop seperating yourself from your peers, and just have a good time. It's not you versus them. It's just everyone trying to have a good time. Drink, love and be merry!

Not everyone drinks. Unfortunately, you are the age where everyone is starting to experience freedom, so it will be very hard to find a girl who does not drink. A lot drink because they are insecure, some because it's the first time away from mom's and dad's control, and they want to have fun. Unfortunate for some of these (I'm saying some, not all), they will not be able to control what happens and will suffer consequences, like poor grades, unwanted pregnancies, accidents, death. Only a few will realize the error they are committing and stop... and even more few will not ever drink. Stay strong to your belief's... I've met a few young people that have, and they've made it through. I've also met a lot of older adults that have been there, done that and admit that drinking was not really a smart thing, but luckily, they got through okay as well. When you get older, or maybe you already know this, you will learn that a part of being social is being able to hold an intelligent conversation with others regarding a wide variety of topics, not just getting drunk and doing crazy things.

I agree with you about drinking. I think more people drink because they see others doing it, and they do it to fit in. I don't drink and the harassment I take for that is really unbelievable. And there is always some guy out there that just knows he can get me to drink,(i guess it is like a challenge to them or something, but I get that a lot.) So this guy will buy me a drink and come over with a smile and some stupid line-he probably thinks it is very clever in his drunken state, but if he were sober, he'd know how lame it sounds. Anyway, he smiles, cajoles, pleads, pouts and eventually they may even resort to calling me some foul name because I am refusing their drink. Even telling them I'm my groups designated driver has little effect on consoling him.
Anyway, If you don't like drinking, then don't. Try to find friends that hold the same feeling, but don't hold out too much hope on that. Be your groups DD, make sure your friends get home safe, that is something to feel good about.
Anyway-good luck in college.

First of all, don't ever let someone make you out to be someone that you are not. Be proud of who you are. I find it to be true if you stand on your two feet and stand up for what you believe in long enough then people will not expect anything less from you. When you go out with your friends or to parties DON'T drink because after they see that you are not one to drink then they will understand that it is a part of who you are. Hey you can be the designated driver. You don't have to be drunk to have alot of fun. Your right some people just are not worth being friends with if they are going to ruin their lives. Find positive outings you can go to. Stick with some college activities/clubs that don't involve drinking. Just don't feel pressured into anything you don't want to do. Sounds like you have a great head on your shoulders and you need to give yourself more credit. GREAT JOB!!!

Drinking releases your inhibitions so people feel "freer" when they're drunk and any worries are conviently dampened by the drunk feeling. It's basically a form of escapism and reason to do stupid or crazy stuff they wouldn't do normally.
Well, since you don't drink, you can always be designated driver for your friends and it will give you a legitmate reason for not drinking if people ask (if you're at a party, bar, etc)
If you want to find a girl who doesn't drink, you should try to go where they are, which aren't at bars. Try the library, sports events, or, if you're somewhat religious at all, a church group.

i do not drink or do drugs and that i'm a school junior. I genuinely have tried eating interior the previous, yet not sufficient to get inebriated. i did not like the feeling it gave me after the little extreme handed. i do not particularly see the point of it. college scholars experience like it would want to't be a celebration without between both (or both). i imagine it truly is because they recognize what they are doing is uninteresting and repetitive and they want to get buzzed to forget that it truly is uninteresting and repetitive. what's the point of partying interior the first position then? I also experience that some people are only not satisfied or are less than pressure out, yet won't be able to imagine of a more beneficial effectual thanks to launch their frustruations. i stumble on not something incorrect with people social eating, yet not on the point some college scholars do it. i guess the staggering element i am going to assert about social eating (and medicines to three quantity) is that it facilitates people relax, it truly is particularly a lot the purely professional about it. I nevertheless choose now to not drink or do drugs, because the pros do not outweigh the cons. don't experience on my own, only shop doing what you do! :-)

I drink because there are a lot of dumbasses in this world and I need to get away from the world for a little while. College drinkers drink to have fun. Girls do stupid stuff usually because they're just stupid. And the reason why it seems like alot of girls drink is because they're the ones getting all of the attention. Because they are girls that are drunk (easier to see naked). There are just as many good non-drinking girls out there, they're just not going to grab people's attention as easy. So just keep your eyes open, the right one will catch your attention some day.

Not all teenagers choose to drink, my 18 year old doesn't. I never did, even when going to bars. You feel a little silly nursing your one drink all night, but I never understood why people would drink to feel miserable the next day. So enjoy the party, you can, without being drunk, but don't be surprised if you end up being the designated driver.

it's you that is a social wallflower
it should be that if you got game then you could apporach any gril, drinking or not and talk to her without the need for liquid courage.
there are gilrs/ guys who don't drin, but at any party those that don't will be few and far inbetween
you have to set yourself apart ot make people want to apporach you sober
and for that you have to have a good personality
most people don't
hence why they drink, to be popular and to fit in
those who can do it without drinking are sought after by both men and women alike
