We woke up to the smoke alarms blaring at 2:00 a.m. on January 10 of this year. My hubby ran through the house to get my daughter and granddaughter (and the dog) and I rushed into my son's room to get him. My son and I ran out the back and around the house. My hubby, daughter, granddaughter and Yorkie came out the front a short time later with flames right behind them. We stood and watched our house burned to the ground (even the floors) while it snowed gently all around us. That was the most surreal event of my entire life. To make it more strange, it was a month to the day and hour after my mother in law died that the fire happened.

Not telling the whole story, sorry. My house burned down with me in it. My bedroom is the only room that didn't burn (not that the smoke couldn't get in). I jumped out the first story window, into a snowbank, (with no shoes) to get out.
And I've put out two fires with fire extinguishers.

house fire caused by a electric heater 3 yrs. ago. heard the heat detector ring, ran up the steps, saw the smoke, ran down the steps, dialed 911, told them my address, handed the phone to my mom, ran back up the steps to shake my kid brother awake, and get him downstairs and outside, ended up with minor scalds and slightly burnt hair, but everyone got out ok, so its all good.

the upstairs of my parents house burned when I was in 5th grade. INo one was injured but had to have it rebuilt. My husband's cousin was drunk and left a pan on the stove burned his apartment and he had to have skin graphs and still is bald on the top of his head from it and scars on his arms. This same guy had left a pan cooking previously but me and my bf found him drunk sleeping holding the spatula. The time he was burned he was living by himself if my bf hadn't been living with him it would of happened sooner. He is lucky to be alive.
