Westerns seem designed to force their own cultural views on other cultures. Even worse, they push the belief that doing so is ok and that it should be done whenever possible.

Western men fight for Chinese women's rights by placing sanctions on China.

Western men are activists against clitoris cutting (clitorodectomy) in Islam and Africa

Western men are active for women's rights all around the globe. Because of America's intervention in Japan for example women gained many rights and sufferage they didn't have before.

YES it is imposition of Western Values.
As a westerner however, I am programmed to feel that in cases such as clitoris cutting, and femanine abuse, it is our duty to do so.
Even if it is not right to do so, the West basically makes the rules and enforces them - so it IS RIGHT TO DO SO by default.

I guess we are lucky in America that ISLAM and countries with misygonistic characteristics don't have air forces and UN sanctions to levy against us so they could change our ways.

If Islam could, they'd make every woman in America wear a tent and basically be slaves to us.

That is the reason Islam and most parts of the world are so afraid of GLOBALIZATION.
The world gets smaller and smaller every single day thanks to the internet and communications.
For all intents and purposes, AMERICA leads the world in fashion, culture trends and other fads. Everyone wants to be like us but they can't - they still want to try though.
Having a society that wants change from a dictatorship or totalitarianism or communism is a problem for those in power. That is why they resist.

America is basically like the BORG.
RESISTANCE IS FUTILE - YOU WILL BE ASSIMILATED.

It’s a choice between survival or death actually. Western influence will not prevent these socio paths - whereas they can destroy our democracies pretty quickly. Human rights are contrary to some religions. Something's got to give. Freedom or Religion? Democracy or a slaveholder/ merchant/ child rapist’s delusions from 1400 yrs ago? Its not just Islam - fundamentalism is over running all societies - here in the USA, europe, shintoism in japan, indonesia. Fundy Jews and Hindus. They will destroy all advances from 500ad unless stopped. They reject Western Values – nto just secular existence, but the idea of the civilian, individual life, citizen, human right, life, liberty, love, chivalry, and pursuit of happiness - these are all western values. Valuing people's opinion and beliefs outside of your own. Valuing people's lives- these are solely western ideas. So be it. There is a war being fought socially, and culturally. A war of attrition – expanding populations that refuse to assimilate.

But if we want to start somewhere we had better start here at home – the laws of this country come before any of your idiotic beliefs or opinions, no matter what the background or religion. That holds true for any democracy – and anyone trying to erode that is waging war against our democracy and should be treated accordingly. Your talking about the richest civilization in the world there with all those oil wells – you think they aren’t trying to destroy western, as well as traditional European culture? Check out Wikipedia – half the entries are some pro-Saudi propaganda. They own the majority of western publishing firms, billions of dollars to bomb Africans in Sudan, build mosques in the West and East, and sue for ever increased liberties for themselves while they try to introduce sharia. Look at the Netherlands – that’s the price for indulging this crap. They only thing they understand is the rod. Treat them like dirt and they lick your hands like a dog, treat them as people and they cut your throat while you sleep.

Who’s made the most money by these recent conflicts, by all of the incredible destruction to our American way of life? What country has the most new millionaires? Anyway this whole peaceful religion bs – No religion is peaceful, and for these ‘Arab or muslim lands’ – you can tell me the people converted willingly – I know the Europeans were kidnapped and enslaved as children. I don’t believe everyone in the whole of the Caususes, ME, and Northen Africa gave up beliefs over 10,000 yrs old in some cases overnight, but I have no proof. But let me ask you this – if they are so benign why are all these lands Arab? Where did the people go who lived there? Thats your answer. Silence is louder than words. Someone beating their wife there will beat them here and then try to beat you. And they dont CARE if its against the law – if asked they will say “That’s not what I believe.” That’s your answer. This multi cultural bs has got to end. All beliefs are not equal – some are crueler than others, some are more suicidal, but all come under the laws of the nation, and now the international treaties of nations. We created a UN so that no more millions would have to be exterminated because of some idiotic belief. Islam flouts the laws of human rights. If permitted they will erode them for us, or we will change Islam – take your choice.

Everyone here is making good points about perspective. The world is quickly becoming a smaller place and at some point we are going to have to come to an agreement on acceptable behavior and cultural preservation. I do believe that democracy is important for the people (relatively unchecked capitalism- I'm not so sure) and that humanity should work toward unalienable rights for everyone. Criticism can come close to home though as our nation hasn't even been able to offer equal education opportunities for all of our citizens. But that's all my perspective.

it is just to present a hateful picture of Islam. muslin men do not really treat their wives badly. don't you know that the English men are known as very violent men who beat their wives repeatedly, and women in Islamic countries do not receive such beatings. if western culture were going to protect the well-being of other human beings it would not have not attacked Iraq and Afghanistan or supported Israel in attacking Lebanon.

It's only protection if those being "protected" feel that they are being oppressed (as in the case of the Taliban). However, countries like France banning head scarves in government owned buildings is an imposition.

It is just an EXCUSE. Really, Westerners don't care too much about other people's rights unless it contributes to western financial and economical interests.
