I am writing a fantasy story. I had a really good start, but I dropped it. I need some writing tips to get me going again.

Maybe take a break for a day or two if possible.

Write about something completely different, maybe what happened to you yesterday or a fictional trip on train to the city.

IF you need to keep writing your fantasy, maybe sketch out several bizarre possibilities - dragons arrive from outterspace, an airplane fly in full of snakes, leprechauns start appearing under every tree, magic apples fall from the sky....

Good luck and have fun!

Have a couple drinks. Do not get drunk. Just have enough to loosen your mind up a bit. If that does not work then just start writing down stuff and go through it later to see what works.

Take some time to relax. Think about where you want the story to go. When you figure that out, just write one scene at a time, advancing your plot to where you want it to go.

I find that by taking a break and start reading some of your favorite authors will help you clear your head and you will be subconsciously thinking up new things to add to your story. I hope this helps.

Take a walk at the nearest park or take a look at a nearby clump of trees, appreciate the colors and harmony while thinking... what if the creatures you conjured were playing around those trees? ... how would they move? ... what if some malevolent elements attack them? ... how would they react--flee or fight? ...

Go for a jog. It relaxes the brain, but you think at the same time.
