Do you think they'll bring it home this year?

They got stuck signing 2 statues last offseason in Hatcher and Rathje. They still haven't addressed the defense, instead signing a marginal player in Baumgartner, and someone who hasn't played in the NHL in Lars Jonsson. Forsberg told Clarke to sign Jonsson... and well... you listen to Forsberg.

If Forsberg and Gagne stay healthy they could each have 100pt seasons. But Forsberg and healthy go together like oil and water. If the Flyers stay healthy AND Niittymaki gets the start as goaltender I can see the Flyers getting places.

Jeff Carter will have a breakout season this year and may put up big points. The addition of Calder for Handzus may be sad for fans but its being talked as the most one-sided trade in Blackhawks history (bad for the blackhawks). We'll be happy to see Kyle on our team. For the rest of the defense we have to rely on Pitkanen and Meyer to flourish in the "new NHL".

If everyone stays healthy we could definately make it to the finals, but we'll have our hands full with the likes of Anaheim and Dallas.

It became Ed Snider's sister Phyllis who ended up naming the crew at the same time as she suggested Flyers on a go back vacation from a Broadway play.[15] Ed knew at the moment it would want to be the prevailing call, because it captured the speed of the game and went properly phonetically with Philadelphia. On August 3, 1966, the crew call became presented.[15] Of the eleven,000 ballots gained, more desirable than one hundred chosen Flyers because the crew call and were entered right into a drawing to choose a winner. Alec Stockard, a 9-3 hundred and sixty 5 days-old boy from Narberth, Pennsylvania who had spelled it "Fliers" on his get admission to,[15][16] gained the drawing and became declared the winner.

I hope so. I've been waiting since the Canadiens won the cup in 1975-76. A change in philosophy is needed. The Broad Street Bullies were a once in a lifetime experience yet the brass keeps trying to resuscitate it and have not been champs because of it. I love Mr. Snider and Clarkie, but time passes everyone by and it's time to go in a new direction. Notice how far the new thinking got Jay Snider?

In hockey it is critical to have big, physical defensemen - even if that means they are slow, lumbersome and can't carry the puck out of their own end. No - wait a minute - the game has changed. Speed is the primary advantage.

In Philadelphia it is critical to have big, physical defensemen - even if that means they are slow, lumbersome and can't carry the puck out of their own end. Nothing has changed in Philly, and neither will the outcome.

The Flyers are on a downward spiral. In a league that is becoming much quicker, they are signing bulking and slow defenseman. Forsberg was a nice signing, but he is on the downslope of his career. This offseason wasn't much better for them. I see them making the playoffs, but not winning the division.

No, there are too many other good teams in the Eatern Conference, plus an injury ridden Sabres team took them behind the shed in the playoffs last year.

They are talented offensively however they are too slow on defense and the goaltending is suspect. They'll make the playoffs and once that happens, anything is possible.

I am not a big fan of the Flyers so I hope that they don't win.

I am a Pittsburgh Penguins fan so I am going to hope that they do well this year.
