if you have ever seen videos of the planes crashing into the world trade center buildings, it looks like they just crash into the building, but there is no explosion yet, like the explosion does not occur until like a second after the planes hit the building. I thought maybe it could be that the buildings did not have time to explode immediately because of how fast the planes were going. But the planes were were going like 500-600 mph. And isn't that the normal speed for a plane? It sounds like it could be a normal speed to me, but I have never been on a plane, so I don't really know. Is that the normal speed for a plane, or is it faster than normal? Does anyone know? Also, why is it that the explosion did not occur until a second after the initial impact?

1) The planes were flying at a speed much lower that their normal cruising speed for two reasons: They were at a low altitude where the air is thicker, and the slower speed made it easier for the terrorists to aim at their targets.

2) Commercial aircraft carry most of their fuel in the wings, and none near the nose of the plane. The fuel tanks burst when the WINGS hit the building, and momentum carried the fuel into the building.

3) what you saw on TV was the fireball from the burning fuel, after it expanded out beyond the walls of the building. The fire was already burning inside before you saw it.

HELLO? Earth to whomever, laws of physics still apply. The body of the aircraft impact at an enormous velocity, thus forcing the implosion INWARD (along with all oxygen), when the "building" gets a chance to breath (that is when the oxygen re-enters the building, normalcy takes over and the fire and smoke then comes OUT of the building.

Jet gas is way more desirable explosive than gas. that is largely pretty subtle kerosene. It would not even want a flame to ignite, basically warmth. the quantity of ability expended at the same time as those planes collided with the homes became huge, and created an excellent form of warm temperature. integrate that warmth with atomized jet gas, and also you eventually end up with an explosion. The terrorist's knew that commercial airliners make staggering bombs. Now on to a delusion(slightly off subject matter i comprehend) There are those who imagine that metallic homes wont give way as a results of fireside. it really is inaccurate as incorrect might want to be. at the same time as it takes a temperature of more desirable than 2000 stages to soften metallic, metallic loses about 0.5 of it really is ability at about 750 stages. in case you want fireplace coverage for a metallic framed domicile, that is heavily more desirable than an same domicile framed with timber. timber platforms will stay status after a lot more desirable of a fireplace than it takes to deliver down a metallic framed domicile. Edit Jay, metallic homes give way very just about on a daily basis as a results of fireside. Ask a fireman. some months in the past, a bridge collapsed in California as a results of a tanker crashing and burning lower than it. The crash on my own did little or no damage, even with the undeniable fact that the fireplace did. I hate to get own after I answer questions about right here, yet everybody who thinks metallic platforms do not give way from fireplace basically are comprehensive IDIOTS. Get your head out of the sand guy.

What really created the huge explosion were the fuel tanks igniting with the impact: The impact itself didn't create the explosion.
To watch a really amazing show on this, see: Anatomy of 911 from discovery channel that's been airing the last few nights.

It was a combination of the time between impact and the fuel tanks igniting, and the fact that the towers were wider than the plane, which would of meant it would take time for the expansion of the flames to become strong enough to blow out windows and such.

it's physics.... the plane went into building and the fuel didn't catch fire until after it was in the building, so the flames didn't come out (looks like explosion, but it's not really) until a delay after first contact. Also, most of the fuel is in the wings.... not the nose. and they were going slower than that when they hit...

One or two seconds sound reasonable to me. If you are falling for the 911 conspiracy theories read popular mechanics. See link below.
Since you have never been on a plane you might also believe the myth that cell phones do not work on planes. They do. The airlines do not want you to use them or even leave them on because they interfere with the control equipment on board. If you do use it and you get caught you will be told off. An acquaintance says that she went in the bathroom to make an urgent call once.

The explosion wasn't from the impact, it was from the fuel tanks igniting. It took an extra fraction of a second for the tanks to breach and the fuel to catch fire.

i think explosion occurs only if the petroleum of the plane catches fire. it may take a few minutes for sparks to reach the petroleum.
