French macaroons are very different from the traditional American macaroons. They are small, round cakes, crisp on the outside, smooth and soft in the middle with a filling in the center (for a pic you can visit the laduree (.com) website.
I am aware that I can purchase them via FedEx from the New York location of the Paris patisserie, Fauchon. And from the Laduree website in London, England. But those alternatives are very expensive, especially the shipping costs. I was hoping to find a French bakery/restaurant local in Houston that sells thiss amazing dessert. Thanks in advance for everyone's help!

Hi, my Dad has a bakery on Bellaire Blvd. It is next to the Black-eyed Pea and the Palace Boling Alley. He has macaroons and they sound like what you are looking for. If you want to call them the Bakery is called Moeller's. It is a bakery that has been in business for many years. It belonged to my Grand-father and then my Dad. My Dad is 76 so it has been around for many years. Alot of other bakeries have gotten the ideas from other people that worked for them and then went to work for other bakeries. If you like cream cheese, they have the best Cheese-Orange Dainties. I unfortunatly can eat just to many of them. LOL Hope you like them!!!!

I think that sounds delicious, and I wish there was a french bakery. But, I wanted to suggest the Sweet factory on Hillcroft. They have some wonderful sweets.
