I have acid reflux which despite medication acts up now and then if I eat too much near night.

In the middle of the night I jump up out of bed as I throw up in my mouth.

I take antacid and drink some water and then milk, but on some nights I cannot get that awful awful taste out of my mouth and back of my throat. Water makes it worse.

For some reason after it happens I keep coughing and coughing and each time I cough, more of that taste comes up.

Does anyone have a food or drink to recommend that will take away that taste?

... any maybe something that will stop that awful coughing up of possibly vomit that it still in my throat for some reason?

The taste is in the back of my throat, not in my mouth.

she will grow out of the puree stage, in the meantime -- calm down.i can promise you, she will not be on pureed food when she's 15years old. every time you are anxious, she feels anxious as well. This makes gagging MUCH more likely. also, due to her history with foods and drinks, she may have developed a habit out of gagging. this will be overcome naturally in time. when i was a baby i would gag on anything mashed. but i was fine with whole foods and with purees. i am now 28 and STILL get reflux when i eat mashed vegies - i had a doctor investigate my throat and they discovered the valve that is above the stomach did not develop, and that is why i can't handle mashed food. so there is that chance as well. to combat mashed food ==== stop mashing the food. instead - keep giving pureed options and giving whole foods as options too. at every meal, place a pureed option, and a whole (well cooked and small portion) option of the SAME food. Eg. Pureed green beans, plus a cooked whole green bean. Let her explore this as she chooses without any pressure or stress. You know that she likes bits of bread, so maybe you could use some bread as a "dipper" to dip into different foods e.g. an egg, some cottage cheese, guacamole, yogurt, sauces, pureed fruit etc. you know that she likes little pieces of lunch meat - so add some pieces with her pureed vegies - not in the same container, but on the side. this way she can explore whole and puree. the more opportunities she has to explore and discover with textures and tastes, the more likely she will expand on her accepted flavours. try to relax, and let her feed herself. give her a spoon, and stop using plates and bowls. pour food and place whole foods onto her high chair try and let her feed herself. you might find with independence and a calm, non-stressful environment she might just surprise you :)

i could not imagine anything more neuasiating as mixing antacid, water, and milk and seriously the constant coughing has got to a problem . do you eat a lot of fatty food or perhaps a lot of peanuts or chips and which side of your body do you lie on to go to sleep ? all could be a factor but your GP should come up with an answer -- if not get a second opinion .

You should try Sprite and add some black pepper and lemon juice in it. That should make you feel better and for the best result try it cold with some ice.

Dr. pepper for cigarettes, or anything else. Mr. Pibb works better if you can find it (more spicy can't explain it) but DP is the way to go. My wife has no idea I smoke thanks to AHHHH Dr. Pepper.
