As Kim said, the stafford loan is a good way to go. It is funded through the federal government. You can talk to your financial aid office for application information. You will also need to fill out a FAFSA if you have not already. You can do that online - http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ they have answers to all kinds of questions there too. There are 2 types of stafford loans - subsidized and unsubsidized. If you can get sub, do. I believe if you have a subsidized loan the government will pay your interest for you while you are in school. If you get the unsubsidized, you can pay the interest while you're in school or else it gets added on to the balance when you start paying back your loans.

To whom it may concern, I am in the same boat as you I recently had to go back to school for job retraining while going through a bloody worker's comp suit. I got a pell grant for school and was also short. In my schools financial aid office there was some kinda GOVT loan that is guaranteed I forgot what its called, but it goes through a regular bank and you don't even have to be working to get it. GOOD LUCK KEN.
