Who hates wal-mart because they are a mega-chain store. I personally hate wal-mart because they drive out locally owned business. I live in Vancouver, Canada and we don't have a wal-mart here and I am glad we dont.

Wal-mart, not in my neighbourhood!

for those of you who says that wal-mart employees choose to work there and that if they dont like it there they could quit. well do you guys realize the major gap between the rich and the poor in the USA? there are a lot of americans depending on the job at wal-mart to pay their bills and feed themselves. when the workers ask for a raise they get shut ff and when they asked to be unionized, wal-mart threatens to shut the whole store down. so they arn't choosing to work there, they dont even have a choice. this is the same example as "nike kids," they would rather work for cheap labour and get paid very little so they can feed themselves rather than receiving nothing or resorting to prostitution.

People say they would rather buy cheap chinese goods... that's really dumb in the long run. Why buy something cheap that you will have to replace 800 times when you can buy the same thing, only better quality, just once.

Wal-mart is a horrible store. Not only do they drive small mom and pop stores out of business, Walmart sells junk and they treat the people who work for them like dogs.

Have you even known someone that works in a Walmart DC? They pay them great money, but once they've been there for over five years, they push them out the door so they can hire in someone else cheaper.

All the Wal-Marts that I've ever been in are trashy. They smell like sewage, and all the stuff is junk. If you buy clothes from them, after washing them just once, they fall apart or no longer fit. They contract out to have a lower thread count.

It's just a disgusting store. It was better when Sam was alive, but now his kids are ruining it.

Wal-Mart has many negatives. I personally feel they are turning our country into something that resembles the Mexican economy but I do not blame them.

I mean they sure did not ruin the economy in Mexico, it is crooked politicians just like here.

They are also doing some good things, and with laws they could do a lot of good. Walmart also creates lots of business. Stores around them do great if they fill a new need that changes when the store opens.

My CD shop accross from Wally World has benefited greatly from the increased traffic. But I know my customers and I sell cheaper than they do, always have, always will.

Besides what you said, I hate Wal-mart because they are crowded and people just race around and act like it's the best thing since sliced bread.
The aisles are hard to get down and a lot of people in Wal-mart look like they left their motor running in the car so the battery won't die. Some look as if they have 666 tattooed in their hair.
I have one 5 min from the house and I go about twice a year, only if I really, really have to for some reason, and it takes a major reason.

Do not worry about large corporations. They are only a small fraction of our economy. Many large corporations do not last. There is a book called Edge City (Cities) that addresses this issue. Large Corporate Store like Walmart seem like a threat in the short- term , but in the long-term they are not.

So let us explore how Walmart might fall.
1)Are they over extended?
2) Are the other mega-chains (who are usually right next door to one another) creating "self-destructive" competition? Meaning they are competing themselves to economic destruction.
3) Do they depend too much on foreign trade? Say something happens that cuts off trade from China.

I have been to Wal-mart at 11 PM. I have seen how they put stock away. Skids all over the floor. You have to walk over them to shop. All it will take is a call to OSHA.

Wal-mart sucks. They move in with low prices for junk until they drive out the smaller stores than raise there prices. They are also unfair to their employees. The pay sucks the benefits are a joke. No I refuse to support Wal-mart and refuse to shop there. I do like Mejeirs.

Wal-Mart is okay, I shop there for household goods like towels, mops etc.... My co-workers' mom works there. She's fine with it. She says that the pay is no worse that any other retail she applied to or worked at even a little better than most. The first job I got in the USA was a Mom and Pop retail. It was strictly minimum wage. Not one cent more. Then I found out that they hadn't filed SS for me, by then I had left.

I like Wal-mart. I can find something there for like $5.00 cheaper than another place. The exact same thing! I feel bad that it puts people out of business, but maybe they know what they are doing. Other stores should try and price match or something. America is poor these days with the gas prices and stuff.

I hate Walmart. The only time I shop there is if I need tampons at 2:00am and nothing else is open or close. They not only drive out small business, they build a store then abandon it when they want to expand. Drive through small town America, you'll see the destruction they have caused.

Not only does it kill the small business man it hurts the whole local economy. For instance when someone is hired on at walmart they receive paper work to file for state ran medical insurance because walmart knows that the people they hire cannot afford the health insurance they provide. Cheap labor and no health costs, of course their making money!

I love Wal mart. They are a great store chain with good people working there. They only have a tarnished reputation because organized labor (unions) can't stand to see so many working people that they can not draw union dues from. It's sick.
