They were shouting so loud that it became your business. You shouldn't feel bad, he could of hurt her. Better to be safe then sorry! Good girl!

THere is no reason for you to feel bad.
You did the right thing. Just think of it this way, If you didn't call the cops, he might have done more than just hurt her and the kids. He may have killed her. So, you should be glad you called the cops. You may have just saved her life and her babies life as well. Now a days, so many women die because of abusive husbands or boyfriends. You did the right thing.
You are a great person and great neighbor. WHile he is away in jail you may want to go over to the womens house and say hi. Take her some cookies to get to know her better. She may be around bad men because she doesn't have any good friends she can talk to and get advice from. She might need someone to be there for her.
It's just something to think about.

It was a good idea that you did what you did. However you have to think of the consequences that you may have caused. For one, he will mostly likely be out of jail in no time and back at that apartment. If he doesn't know you called the cops, he will automatically think she did, which will result in a huge fight, probably like the one you just witnessed. Number two, beings he went off to jail, she is probably at home crying and missing him, which will make her think she needs him. Women in that position will never leave their abusers until something drastic happens. even if a restraining order is in affect, the women usually ignore it.
I am not trying to be negative at all here. I am just trying to get my opinion across on the other sides of abuse. Just because the cops were called this time, does not mean, it is over. In fact it may be worse this time around. Abuse is a scary thing, I lived most of my life around it, growing up with my moms abusive boyfriends, and then my boyfriends. But in any case, I am glad you acted on that situation, most people choose to sit back and ignore it.

If someone was chasing you around the house with a bat, would you want someone to help you? Of course you were not in the wrong… You did what a damn side more people should do… You chose to get involved, and may have even saved that lady’s life!!!
Domestic Violence is something that unfortunately far too many people turn a blind eye to. They see and hear it happening, and decide to stay out of it. Regrettably, because of their decision to not get involved, the violence is allowed to continue, until eventually, someone gets badly injured or killed.
I congratulate you for making the right decision!!!
I will make one suggestion however, and that is that you keep it as your own little secret. I’m hoping for starters that your call to the police was made ‘anonymously’, because it would be best for you to not get involved in any legal proceedings.
Don’t feel bad about him getting arrested… he got what he deserved!!!
Unfortunately, with a lot of Domestic Violence cases, the bast*rd gets away with it, because the woman decides not to proceed with any charges against him. This is usually because she fears the consequences, or decides for some reason that it is better for the kids that their father doesn’t go to jail. This is why it is best that you remain ‘anonymous’. You mentioned that the police had to find that he had done something wrong… If the wife (out of fear) denies that he did anything against her, and it is known that you were the one who had him arrested, then you suddenly find yourself in trouble because it is your word against both of theirs!!! Plus of course, if he knows that it was you who reported him, your safety will also be in danger!!!
All I can suggest is that if he does it again… report him again (anonymously)!!!

You definately did the right thing. Any punk that would chase a woman with a bat or even threaten violence should be locked up. Don' t feel bad, you saved the girl from going to the ER and the guy would have went to jail anyway. Hopefully that kid won't have to see his deadbeat dad beating his mom everyday.

This world needs more people like you. Congrats for caring enough about people you don't even know. You did the right thing. It sounds like a little jail time is just what this guy needs.

I think you did the right thing. Who knows what would have happened if you didn't. The woman or her child could have been killed. Don't feel bad. You were only trying to help. If he wasn't doing anything wrong, they wouldn't have arrested him!

Absolutely not. You shouldn't feel badly at all. You were completly in the right state of mind. You probably saved both the mother and the kid from a lot.

Congratulations on calling the police. You made the right move. He certainly shouldnt be around the lady and the little one if he is violent as it sounds like he is. Good move.
