happens. The baby isn't smiling at anybody else, mind you, but will only smile and stare at my husband. Any baby will let him carry them, too! Any explanations? I've heard a few already, but I'm wondering if there are any more explanations to this occurence.

I have the same thing ! My friends always say this to me. They say babies love me and I love babies hehe. My friend tells me that her baby cries when anyone picks him up so she loved it when he didn't cry for me as she could get some things done around the house. I find myself smiling at them and talking with them. Babies are amazing though and sense when they are comfortable with someone. They depends on their sense though as this helps them know their mom straight away either from her voice and other things. I think their senses are heightened at such a vulnerable age. I eventually became a teacher- bet your husband will make a good teacher too !

I don't know but this happens to me all the time. Even really cranky kids in the store calm down and look my way. It's the darnedest damned thing ! Maybe my beard and graying hair makes 'em think I look like Santa or something. Maybe I just have the right smell. Who knows.
BTW/ baby's & little totts up to 5 or so all do this.Weird huh !

Babies and pets instinctively know who like them and who don't. And instinctively they respond to that. My five month old baby loves all the old grandmas in this neighborhood because they always stop to talk to and play with him. One minute he could be gurgling and cooing with an grandma, and the next minute he'll be crying his head off when someone else comes along. They just feel these things. I think you're very fortunate to be married to such a wonderful man!

Some people have an inner peace that attracts babies and animals. My husband is the same. Kids love him. He also can train any animal without trying. He house trained our cats (no litter box) and potty trained our HAMSTER. It only went in a dish he put in the cage.

BTW - He's a great Dad.

I don't know, but it happens to my husband, too! I'm glad you asked this because I always thought it was odd, especially because we don't have children and we're not around children much. (You know, like if he was a teacher or something it would make more sense.) The stranger part is that my husband is a big, long haired, goateed guy with a tattoo. Maybe they know he's a sucker at heart?

That happens with my dad a lot as well. But that is because he really likes babies as well and these - believe it or not - can feel that as well! It's like they sense that he really likes babiés and he tries and the, well, love that!

I don't know. It may be he gives off an air of calm, centered, benevolent energy. It may be his coloring. Maybe you should encourage him to apply for the job of host for PBS Kids Sprout. The position was open last I heard.
