Your card reader is most likely on a USB port. Windows will have assigned it a drive letter. Using Explorer or My Computer, all you have to do is log on to that drive. Explorer will open it and show the files. You can then view them right on the card reader drive or move them to, say, "my pictures" or what ever folder you want to put them in.
Point of general information: I recommend that everyone put a short cut to Explorer on their desk top. It makes file searching and maneuvering a lot easier. Just right click anywhere on the desk top, pick "make shortcut" use browse to find explorer.exe in the windows folder. Click OK etc. and then rename the file just Explorer (don't need the "exe" on the end).

But the memory card into the card reader, and plug the card reader into the USB port in your computer. Usually, the computer will automatically detect the USB port (mac always does) with the camera card and then you can view the pictures by opening up the card; but if it doesnt detect it (on windows) you can go my computer and find the card reader hardware and upload them that way. good luck.

Take your memory card out of the digital camera and use a USB memory card reader or in the experience that your computing gadget has a card reader, use that. Then replica/paste from the cardboard on your photos/video folder.

Once you put the card into the card reader, your computer should automatically detect the card, and open a Window on your computer that will allow you to peruse and copy/move your photos from your card to your computer. It's simple.

Treat the card reader like another hard drive. You can copy the file to your computers hard drive. Ctrl-A will select all the photos, then Ctrl-C to copy them, them move to the folder you want to put them and hit Ctrl-V to paste them.
Another way to do it is to use a program like picassa http://picasa.google.com/ once installed it has an easy import button which will detect your card reader and download the pictures to your hard drive and help you organize your photos...
