I love Fantasia, I voted for her and I am proud of her, and she did a pretty good job in the movie, but it was so sterotypical, Should they have called it "Life is a stero-type"?

I dont think I missed the point, and I don't think 'people like me' dont get it. I love fantasia and I realize she went through a lot in her life, I just felt like I already saw the movie once when I saw 'whats love gotta do with it' Fantasia;s was just a toned down LTM version.

I think it was poorly directed. fantasia is not an actress which justifies the "not so good" acting. she is a singer. the movie was to fast and we couldnt grasp the events the occured. we got glances of her being hit, having a baby, getting pregnant. other Lifetime stories are not made this way. I dont think it was stereotypical because this was her life. She lived her life in the "ghetto". some of the events that occured didnt correspond to the exact dates in her life. to me i think the movie could have been made better but what was given to us was good enough to know the "basics" of how she grew up.

No, Fantasia was telling us that she went through a lot, to get where she is. The fact that many other black women went through the same thing, is what you are speaking of. Tina did go through the same thing, but drugs were involved. Billye Holliday too. But the message was crystal clear. If you believe in yourself, others will believe in you too. The girl can sing. Her family could too. But she wanted to make it, and be somebody. Now, she certainly is, and not just another statistic either.

It didn't even matter to me that she wasn't an actress, she already said that she was not a strong reader, you have to be a strong reader to act, there are lines to read. She still got her story told. She is fantastic! Knowing how many hurdles she had to jump over to get to where she is, is an inspiration to girls out there, that are in the same situations. It makes them want to keep going, and not give up.

. Listen, it's people like you that makes others who may be in the same situation afraid to tell their story for fear of ridicule. "You cannot heal until you reveal".
I don't care how many times the same story is told, if it helps someone to overcome their adversity, it's a beautiful thing.

I am proud of Fantasia for having the guts to face the 65 million people THAT VOTED FOR HER, and let them know what she went thru to get where she is. She originally wanted Kimberly Elise to portray her, but the Producers felt that no one could tell her story better than she could. She told them she could not act, but they felt she could pull this movie off, despite having to re-live all that she went thru all over again. That, to me, made her story more credible. I applaud Fantasia for allowing her fans to witness her vulnerability.
I love her, she is an American Idol, not just for her singing, but for pressing forward to fulfill whatever dreams she has for her and her daughter, Zion.
Kudos, 'Tasia!

I think what Fantasia and Tina went through made them who they are today, and plenty of us would have crawled under a rock and died............ as well as Oprah. Of course we've seen the story line before, just goes to show you that everyone is not born with a silver spoon in their mouth but they still succeed......... so for others, what's the excuse........................and the movie was great, it had real emotions that you could feel, if you were born with empathy in your heart.......... and I am glad I got to view it.....

Dude, she is a "success story", THAT is what the whole thing is
about. Overcoming adversity, no matter how bad a person may
think it is at the time. Winners don't quit !!That's really not fair to
say that. Cause that could've been anygirl USA, ya know ??
people like u miss the whole point.........get my drift.

i imagine it really is going to were extra particular, even with the undeniable fact that it became stilll good. I cried/teared up plenty. i imagine it effected me more effective than it really is going to have because i am going to audition for American Idol (on september eighth) and her dream is my dream, and seeing her accomplish her aims (through prevailing american idol) purely made my heart weigh down. i extremely favor to be a singer. I knew it ever in view that i became a touch woman, so i wish that i'll a minimum of make it to Hollywood. I felt undesirable for her that she were given raped and her bf became such an a** (like even as she advised him she became pregnant he advised her he'd call her back reason he became watchign a interest...).
