Ranking on search engines depends on many factors and your blog can be ranked higher if you can drive more traffic to your blog. Its a deadlock situation I know ..but its like that .

The search engines want to provide the most relevent results for the search query, it does not matter if it is a blog or not. The important factors for ranking are inbound link quality http://www.seo-blog.com/inbound-links.php and the Title element http://www.seo-blog.com/title-element.php

rang? Do you mean "rank"?
I don't think that they descriminate between web site type... I think they just go by the content on the site.
