They are physically fit, intelligent, hard working, but are not yet married by the time the big 4-O rolls around. They have no steady girlfriends. And they are not Roman Catholic priests.

Probably gay but maybe not, I know a guy who's almost 60 and is totally str8, he just loves playing the field plus he has a lavish lifestyle and would rather spend his money flying all over the world and living big than spending it on a wife.

No, it just mean that they are not ready to marry and probably has no thought of getting married. They don't have a steady girlfriend because they are not ready to settle down.

I'm not gay, but I think I can answer your question. It's no.
I know of several men that are / were in their 40's and not married. They WERE NOT gay.
Namely, David Brown from the final Space Shuttle Columbia mission. (STS-107). Go to www.nasa.gov. and research his profile if you don't believe me. He was 46.

I would say if they are still single at 40 they are confused sexually and do not know what they want. I can say if David Brown from NASA is not Gay i wish he was. He is really really cute..

No..........I've met many men who just aren't mature enough to marry and think that they are 25 even AFTER they turn 40, and play the field until they pass on.......Call it the curse of the playboy..........LOL
