I have a line that runs about 3/4 inch left to right at the bottom of my iBooks screen. It seems to be caused by pressure from the hinge that connects the screen to the base. I think I may have opened and closed this baby too many times. Just want to know if others have had this problem and what u guys think. Thanks, Mike

As an apple technician there are a few things that I can tell you, first is the problem consistant? if it is, then there is probably something wrong with hardware, either one of three things has happened. First, wire fatigue, the physical wire may have become severed (least expensive to fix) second option is that screen has partially failed, there are several hundres micro chips that are ecnased all around the LCD screen, I have seen some times when just one of these can fail and cause really strange color patterns. (second expensive to fix) third is video card. this is integral to the logic board and requires that the whole thing be replaced. (most expensive), is it a single line of pixels, if it is its most likely the second option, if it is more than a single like its most likely the third option (which sucks)

It sounds like Tab Seperation to me. You'd have to get a new LCD panel to fix this problem, if it is bugging you.

http://www.screentekinc.com will most likely have your screen if you want to purchase a new one. Apple will charge you a lot of $ if you not under warranty.

Good luck.
