Nope. As long as it is on your property and not in motion you are not breaking any laws. If you move the car then you are liable to follow all rules and regulations which include licensing and insurance. Keep the puppy parked and you'll be fine!

I don't believe so. As long as it isn't in use. As soon as the car hits the road and is being driven a license plate and insurance is absolutely necessary!

depends on the state you reside in. Find out from your department of motor vehicles. In some states as long as its not drivable you do not have to have it licensed. Other you have to have all the cars in your yard and garage licensed if you can drive them or not.

As long as you own it and can prove it, no it isn't illegal. Just don't take it on the road. Why would the police be looking in your garage ?

If in CA, better file a non-op. If you do not, then when you go to re-register the vehicle to put it back into service, you get nailed with outrageous penalty charges.

It depends on your state.
NV and CA both have you register it as non-operational. It costs nothing, just send in the paperwork once a year.
Check your state's DMV website.
