Next generation every 20 years after..

13 year old is definitely in your generation.

If you reach 21 everyone younger to you by 20 years belongs to the next generation; 40 years younger, 2nd generation & so on & so forth!

A person who is definitely too young to be your parent or too old to be your child is in your generation. Generations are also divided by what people buy or what style they have. Some business people study changes in what people buy when a certain cohort becomes old enough to be shoppers. For example, a generation could be divided by whether or not they had an ipod or a walkman when they started buying music. Or one generation could love miniskirts and tapered jeans, while people only a few years older or younger would never wear them. So in that way, generations are determined by styles chosen, rather than by regeneration patterns of human beings.

I have no clue how people tell... but the way I can tell the separation between me and the generation before & after me is their priorities.

For my "generation" there are a lot of people who love to make friends with everyone and have a good time, have no regrets, not worry too much about all of the political crap that's going on because most of us are extreme liberals (from what I've noticed)...

For the "generation" before me (older) it seems as though people are more involved in government and societal issues, like maintaining a certain salary and attitude in order to find their own "identity" among society... weird...

For the "generation" after me (younger) it really disgusts me... there are kids who will never be satisfied throughout their entire life because, even the clothes that are designed are made for them to seem older (i.e.-young girls clothes are identical to teen/junior sized clothes) they are not going to have anything to look forward to when they are in their later stages of adolescents; not to mention the overall need to be accepted (which i blame on the media).

That's just my idea of how Generations are broken down... pretty pointless, but eh, there ya go!

If you're living at the same time as someone else they are in your generation. And although you were 7 years older than the 13 year old it's very likely that you were born during the same years (70s, 80s, etc)

It's more about attitudes and cultural norms. Funny thing is, I didn't really know what my generation was until I got older and started getting annoyed with the generation younger than I was.
