Right now, I like the Blue Note recordings from the mid to late 1960's. They're kind of adventurous.
Wayne Shorter-the All Seeing Eye,
Herbie Hancock-Speak Like a Child,
Bobby Hutcherson-Dialogue.
Most of Mingus with Dolphy in the band.
Roland Kirk's Inflated Tear album.
Also, I like John Coltrane from 1961-1964 a lot.
Charlie Haden's album with Joe Henderson and Al Foster is a late night favorite of mine.
John Ellis is a great current jazz musician. His bands are great. The album Roots, Leaves, and Branches is great.
I would like to include the Grateful Dead second set music from 1989-1992. I think it's jazz. Ornette Coleman, David Murray, and Branford Marsalis sat in a few times too. I really like the shows with Ornette and Branford, but David's show didn't really work, in my opinion.

depends on the mood I'm in. Mostly though I like vocal jazz such as the stylings of ella fitzgerald. I love to hear her scat.
