Simpsons
South Park

Family Guy
Ren & Stimpy
Beavis & Butthead (old school, yeah!)

I don't know why Japanese Anime is popular. I have never watched it and don't know anyone who has. Then again I'm old enough to remember when Saturday MORNING from 6am to 12pm was the time to watch cartoons!

Japanimation is good to most people because of the variose storylines and plots. Also people like it for its more ruff feel then " old saturday cartoons" they can be a bit more violent then those old cartoons. My choice would be both though because fopr one you have a very funny, entertaining show. But with anime you will have avery seriose plot some times not very funny at all.And as everyone else said the cartoon network line up isnt very good. You realy should look into somehting more befor you judge on it.

All the shows you have mentioned are really cool. I like these shows and Japanimation. Most Japanimation have a very good storyline and cool artwork. ( that is what drew me to Anime.) The last thing you want to do is to base your opinion on the Saturday night lineup on cartoon network. There are many good series out there. What I can suggest is to try a few of them and then form an opinion about them. I strongly recommend "Rouroni Kenshin", "Ranma 1/2" and "Tenchi Muyo" for comedy and action. Classics that you should not miss is the "Macross Saga" and "Dragon ball series". If you like racing, try out " Initial D". I hope that you would try a few of these shows before making a final opinion. Good luck and have fun.

Don't go by the sucky cartoon network line up. They don't offer NEARLY the quality of anime that the TRUE fans have come to know and love.

Good anime including, but not limited to:
Akira, Ninja Scroll, Robotech, Martian Successor Nadesico, Wicked City, Bubblegum Crisis, Gatchaman, Dominion: Tank Police, Appleseed, Patlabor, Venus Wars, Vampire Hunter D, Poltergeist Report, Gall Force, Ronin Warriors, Voltron, Dragon Half, Project A-Ko, Cutey Honey, Ghost in the Shell, Princess Mononoke, and many others have NOT made it there.

it's like this...

japan animation or anime has a main story. viewers would really watch every episode to know the story line and if they missed one episode, they would die out to know what had happend and the drawings are cool too.

however, western animations are cool too not because of their lame drawings but the impact of their expression. i just feel ok if i missed an episode because there is no story line.

i like western cartoons too such as ren and stimpy, the simpson, southpark and more and i also like animes such as dragonball z, naruto, samurai X etc. as the saying goes.. to each of his own.

I like both Japanimation (or Anime) and traditional US animation. The reason people like anime is because they are entirely different. They have no boundaries, no limits, no restrictions. A HUGE difference there.
