like at work say she has more children than she has, that one was adopted who is her own, that her maiden is x not y, that she speaks several languages when she only has a ;ittle bit of them, that she is a air plane pilot and can also pilot a boat

She's probably a pathological liar.
It usually stems from being in a home, growing up, that punished you for telling the truth.
So when these people reach adulthood, they feel like they have to make themselves seem better than they are. Talk to her. I bet she's had a rough childhood.

She is trying to fit in somewhere. To lie and build herself up makes her feel privileged, important, looked up to, admired and feeling equal perhaps to you and others. She seems to have a difficult time in finding her place in life in general.
Apparently herself esteem is not where it should be. She is not focusing on who she really is, but who she may like to be.
