You have to try at local construction company. They are all ran by them; if you are relative of their union member, you have better chances...

I assume you are pursuing a trade though a union or some program.

Each is labor intensive, but the electrician is more fine skills in wiring, phone, and understanding the dangers and safety involved with electricity, obviously.

Carpentry is less fine skills except for the cabinetmaker skills. Tends to be more heavy work in framing and joining and the basic of architecture.

both are excellent trades. My father was an electrician and was steadily employed, our carpenter friends had more "off time" in the winter and overtime in the summer.

Carpenters tend to be more generic and can work there way into being GC's. Electricians tend to be more specific and rarely become GC's. Electricians tend to make more money hourly than run of the mill carpenters. Both are union trained but electricians have both classroom and OJT apprenticeships. Carpenters tend to just be OJT

electrician you have to go to school then study under as apprentice for 5 yrs. then make good money. carpenter you can do this on ojt on job training. eventually you can go for your general contractors license and make really serious money.

Try the Army..they have a lot of good trade schools

We will always use electricity. But we may not use wood that more often. We use concrete and other articficial materials, what do you do then ?

if you have an accident you will probablly kill yourself by electrocution as apposed to maiming your self with a saw
