Could also be gas.

Try bouncing him gently with his tummy across your lap or burping him.

Omg thats so weird...my daughter who is 7 months old will do the same thing sometimes. She will be sound asleep and all of a sudden she will scream and go right back to sleep. I don't know if babies have dreams or not but I don't think they are hurting or scared I think they just make lots of weird noises.

We cannot know what is in the mind of an infant. He could be having nightmares, but how would we know? More likely it is probably gas pains. Try to make sure you sit him almost upright when you are feeding him and keep air out of the nipple by keeping the bottle nearly upright too. Try to burp him well by sitting him on your lap, bending him forward over one arm while you rub his back gently with the other hand. Don't prop his bottles! When he wakes up screaming just hold him close to comfort him and relax. Babies can sense your agitation and react to it. This too shall pass. Remember to try to sleep when he sleeps so you'll have the energy to be alert and patient when he needs you.

I'm not sure how old your baby is, but there is a list of possibilities. He possibly is having a nightmare, or night terror. Please, though, don't rule out other possibilities such as gas, or reflux. My daughter is 7 months old and we just found out that she has reflux which has been causing her discomfort and pain her entire life. She used to do the same thing while sound asleep and it would freak me out. She was also quite fussy a lot of the day, and had a hard time sleeping while laying flat. If you baby has any of these symptoms also, please look into the possibilty of reflux, because I had no idea and wish I could have helped my daughter sooner! If he doesn't have any of these symptoms, it's probably just nightmares or gas, but I wouldn't hesitate to mention it to his doctor. Good luck!

how old is your baby?my suggesstion is that after the baby falls asleep, you sit by him to see what happens. if he twists and turns in his sleep then he has gas. try to lie him on his stomach with his head on a side, so he wont soffocate.if he doesnt twist, then search his cot for insects. mosquitoes, ants and even dust mites bite could bite the baby in his sleep.if he has nightmares then he wouldnot scream when you hold him your arms.babies get scared when they are left alone in a cot. you should snuggle him with a blanky and put a small and light ,soft pillow on his belly. the pillow should be small, and should not be heavy that it can suffocate the baby. the light pillow will make him think that you are holding him.

This isn't necessarily a nightmare. It could just be their little brains reacting to a stimulus (ie. like when they cry'cuz they are over stimulated during the day....they may do the same during sleep). It could also be gas and/or teething. And somtimes babies just make weird noises.

Yes he is probably just dreaming . My 3 year old daughter did that a lot as an infant and she still occassionally does it. It is funny because she doesn't even really wake up BUT my heart is racing so fast that I am wide awake and it takes me a while to calm back down and go back to sleep.

i trust the 1st answer... little ones do no longer in basic terms scream for no reason, shes in soreness.. Colicky little ones CRY for an prolonged era on the comparable time during the day.. and it in many cases fades with the help of three months, she's unhappy for a reason, and if no longer something soothes her, her mom and dad would desire to take her to distinctive scientific professional.. good success!

They say that what a child sees close to bed time can infulence what they dream about, it sounds like he is having bad dreams, but don't worry my daughter did something similar and after a couple of months it stopped.

probably a nightmare. My kids did that infrequently when they were infants. Even my eighteen month old grandson did it when I was babysitting him last week. I went to see if he was allright, but he was still sleeping. I just patted his back and he didn't even move a muscle.

I wonder the same thing my little girl does this too I thought about taking her to the doctor but then I don't. I'm going to take my little girl to the doctor to make sure that she is o.k. because this scares the **** out of me when she does this.
