When me and my friend were 19 we worked at a hamburger place. One day our boss, the manager of the place, was in a bad mood because his boss told him off, and he fired us for NO reason. We are now 24, and both of us finished college a while ago. My friend got a job supervising all restaurants of a pizza place franchise. He was so surprised when he found out at one restaurant the manager was our old boss, but now, my friend is his boss. And we both hate him a lot 'coz we got fired for no reason, and we both remember what a hard time we had with money that time before he got another job. We needed a job to pay for college back then.

My friend can fire him, should he???

What fun would firing him be? I would just make him very well aware of the fact that I was his boss now, and turn him into my B*tch.

Absolutely Not. Ask yourself this question...Are you the same person today that you were when you were 19? Of course not. You have changed many things about yourself since then, even though they may not be as apparent on the surface. It stands to reason that your old manager is no longer the same person that he was back then either. Your friend has the opportunity to grow in spirit. Besides that, your old manager won't sleep for months just wondering when the ax will fall. If your friend fires this guy for something that happened that long ago, your friend isn't much of a man. A person should be hired and fired because of their capabilities not because of some grudge.

Seems to be you two are carrying a grudge for X amount of years of your once boss. Apparently your old boss
has failed to some degree in the management area. Perhaps he has done his time in regrets due to where he is today. I would drop the past,. view it as a lesson well learned and never represent the type of boss he was.
Be more of a boss than he was, by doing your job, he will notice from your actions how indeed management is ran. I believe the honest way of firing someone is when they are constantly coming in late, not following orders,
and such. Don't put yourself on his level. Fire when necessary only.

No, your friend should not fire him.

Your friend needs to realise that success can be fleeting and that an integral part of a managers success is the respect he has from his subordinates. If your friend sacks the old boss for no reason, other workers will see it as a horrible nasty act and will not like your friend.

I would hope that with age, you both have matured and realised that 2 wrongs do not make a right.

Only if the manager is not doing his job properly. Above all, your friend should be a professional and leave his personal feelings aside. Besides, if he did fire the manager based on what happened years ago, he wouldn't be any better than your former boss.

In the professional world, one cannot be fired without just cause, especially after a satisfactory probation period. He can do things like screw with his schedule and such. If he wants to fire the guy, he needs documented proof and witnesses of the employee's behaviors which violate policy of the company.

Not unless you wnt a lawsuit. I would use this as a chance to show him that he has a boss younger than him and that he better do the best job he can cuz you know you will be watching him!
Good luck!

ask him why he fired you. if he said "for no reason" or "i was in a bad mood", he is not allowed to fire you(i think...) so sue him for firing you(and your friend), go to court, and if you win, you can get the $ for all the damages your boss did to your life...

Dude,

Spend your energy someplace else. Perhaps his firing you, made you into the better person you hopefully are now or gave you extra incentive to try harder.
