No, it absolutely is not true. Here is what happens. First off, when people start shaving they are usually young and their hair is not as thick or as dark as it is going to get. You can bet that the hairs on your gramma's chin were soft and barely visible when she was 30...the same is true from 12 to 30...the hair gets a little (to a lot depending on hormones and ethnic background etc.) thicker.
Also, when you shave you are actually making the hair blunt instead of soft and pointed. This is stubble and it feels thicker because it was cut with a razor. If you look at it under the microscope it will look flat at the top. That is why it is better to wax...because the hair grows back in soft and pointed. Look at a naturally grown in hair under the microscope and it is a bit thinner at the top...so pointed but not sharp.
Another reason it is good to wax is that it lasts much longer than shaving, which some women need to do every single day.

Not exactly, it's more of an illusion. When you look up close at a hair that's never been cut, you'll see that it starts thick at the base, and it tapers thin at the end. When you shave it, you're cutting it at the the thick part. The hair keeps growing at that thick width, so that's why regrown hairs look thicker after they've been shaved.

Ah, I'm not the best person at explaining things, but this is like the same thing as if, you pick a blade of grass from your lawn, to give you a visual idea. .

I don't care what experts say... when I've shaved an area, it grows back thicker and darker. When I was 8, I was curious about my mom's leg razor and I shaved my stomach. There was soft brown fuzz growing there. It grew back thick and dark. I have to continue to shave it or wax it on a regular basis. Has the hair dresser ever shaved the thin hair in front of your ears if it was long? Mine did when I was in my 20s... it was soft brown fuzz... it grew back so thick and dark, I'm always having to wax it.

So from personal experience, I'd say yes,,, myth or not, for me, it was true.

It doesn't. It just appear darker and thicker because when u shave, all your hairs are at the same length, and therefore, it seems darker and thicker.

Yes, it's true.

I can't speak for all people, but for me, that has been the case on my legs and arms from shaving. Over the years, the hair has become coarser and darker.

In India, some people shave their heads for a couple of years just so they can eventually have really thick, shiny hair on their heads.

Also, if you pluck hair, the roots will become stronger and coarser.

It doesn't grow back darker and thicker, but it does however, grow back like stubble, as opposed to the soft feel of unshaved hair. Any area that you shave won't grow back think and dark, but it will be stubbly and not nice to the touch.

definitely. thats why a girl should never use a razor on her face. i dont know why though. i think its just because when you shave, youre just cutting it at the surface and making the tip stubbly instead of the fine point it used to grow at. so then it eventually gets shaved and stubbled so often that it has thickened and darkened. but im not sure! it also grows back faster! so beware of leg shaving. thats why people do it all the time. if you havent started yet...dont for a while and you can get away with those fine hairs on your legs!

No! Un shaved hair is soft, when you shave, yoou remove all the hair and as it grow back if feels bristly, so gives the illusion tha tit is thicker. you have the same number of hairs on your body no matter if you shave or not. The color is not altered by shaving either.

No. When you shave, you are cutting the hair at it's thickest part, which is right in the middle, where the hair exits the skin. So when it grows back, it APPEARS thicker, but in reality, it is not.

If you want your hair to grow back fine, you should try depilatories (the cream) or waxing.

Nope, just the bottom of hair is darker and thicker so when it grows back you see the bottom.
