'Julie of the Wolves, the Little House on the Prairie series. Island of the Blue Dolphins, - Children. Jack London, Tolkien and Lloyd Alexander, - Fiction/ fantasy. The first part of Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, The Secret Garden. ALlittle Princess, The Jungle Books - classics, Margret Atwood's - The Handmaid's Tale (sci fi) The God of Small Things - both of those books have very adult themes, so read with caution. Western Star by Benet. A long historical poem. Lynda Barry's works (these are like cartoons) Maus <- both also Very adult. Amy Tan - lots of girls like her work. Read everything you can. Remember its fine to put down a book you don't like - also some books you need to get older before you appreciate what they're talking about. You can try some poetry too - the 'Romantic Poets' are usually a favorite. Try reading some more adult books - your high school should have a list - I know you wont like a lot of them, but they are usually good literature and when its not an assignment its more fun. Sorry this list is a bit weird but I dont know what level you read at - oh, by the way these young adult book called Hatchet I remember liking. And The Last Viking. Try Shakespeare too - Im not kidding - try watchign the movie A midsummer night's dream, or merchant of venice, or Henry V. Oh, its not literature but 'The Way Things Work,' and 'Castle' are to good books on how to do, build things. They are really good.

Try reading Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. It is one of the most *romantic* books I've ever read. I loved it.
Also try reading some Joan Bauer books. She is a great writer.
Hope Was Here (a great book--but it is a tearjerker)
Rules of the Road (and its sequel Best Foot Forward)
Squashed
I also have enjoyed some Caroline B. Cooney books.
Hit The Road
The Girl Who Invented Romance
You should definitely try the Georgia Nicolson series by Louise Rennison. The first book is ANGUS, THONGS, AND FULL FRONTAL SNOGGING. They are more funny than romantic...you might even call them romantic misadventures...but definitely in the chick lit mode. There are 7 books so far. Each one is very funny.
Saving Francesca by Melina Marchetta is also a very good novel.
Laurie Halse Anderson is a good writer (Speak; Prom; Catalyst)
Sonya Sones is another good writer. (What My Mother Doesn't Know; One of those Hideous Books Where The Mother Dies)
(I also love Sarah Dessen. Have you read her newest book Just Listen yet?)

Joyce Carol Oates - Foxfire. It is a great book about a gang of teenaged girls who go against the grain.....great book. Angelina Jolie actually played in a movie based on the book. The movie takes place in the 90's and the book in the 50's so there are some differences. But altogether it is a great read for any teenager. Ask Alice is another great one. It is a diary that a troubled teenagers family had published after her death.

Sophie Kinsella might be a good author to try. She's written the "Shopaholic" series, and another stand-alone novel called "Can You Keep A Secret?". Another author to try is Nancy Mitford - ultimately rather sad ending romantic novels (although they are funny to read, but VERY English!) such as "The Pursuit of Love" and "Love In A Cold Climate".

'A Tree Grows in Brooklyn' is an awesome book!!!, so is 'Joy in the Morning' both are by the author Betty Smith. and both are set back in the early 1900s. great books!!! 'A Tree Grows in Brooklyn' is more about a little girl growing up in the poor part in Brooklyn from 1902 - 1919. It's been on the best seller list since 1943 and a fabulous book!!! 'Joy in the Morning' is more of a romantic book and almost perfectly takes off where 'A Tree Grows in Brooklyn' left off. Both are great books and i would recommend them to anybody!!!
Happy readings!!! :)

Ok here is a great one, it was my favorite when I was your age, it is very romantic and just right for your age, also a big time tear jerker. You will fall in love and in hate and cry your eyes out. Then you will want to read it again! Its called "Summer of my German Soldier"

Why don't you try The "Warriors" Series by Erin Hunter. It's about sentiant cat clans (yes, on our own planet and in practically our own backyards...). It's quite good and there are 6 books in the first series and four at the moment in the second. The first book is "Into the Wild". I think you'll enjoy it.
