The question is a bit of a paradox. Chickens evolved from other birds (I don't know which species, look it up on Wikipedia). The non-chicken birds gradually became more chicken-like overtime. Modern chickens will evolve into something different eventually.

Fortunately, future generations won't miss the chicken because so many things taste like chicken

However, there is an answer to the question "which came first, the chicken or the egg". It is impossible to decide which particular bird was the first chicken, but if you were to make an arbitrary decision like that (lets call that first chicken Jesse), then you simply ask was Jesse born from an egg? If yes, then by definition it is a chicken egg, even if it came out of a bird that isn't a chicken (but it pretty close to being a chicken). The first bird that was a chicken had to come out of an egg because chickens can't be born any other way.

I know this question is con fussing. And there is a bit of a paradox in the explanation (is the egg a chicken egg because a chicken was born out of it, or is the egg a non-chicken egg because it came out of a non-chicken?).

However, the question is purely academic since it is ridicules to try to determine which individual bird was the first actual chicken.

Whether there is a god or none, it is still the chicken which comes first. You need chicken (two chickens, male and female to produce and care for the egg/s). The egg/s will never survive without the chickens rearing them. So it must be the chicken/s which come first.

Chicken first. Ever seen chicks follow the mother hen everywhere she goes? Who would the first chick have followed? Who would have laid the egg and sit on it forever till it hatched?

The human came first. Then it took a wild bird and domesticated it, and, over hundreds of years, brought it to be the chicken you know.

First the chicken & a c*ock. Then eggs. Then more cocks & chickens.

That is the package scheme of creation.
