Some questions require a serious deep knowlegde to be answered. In addition, people don't even like making fun of them because it woul dmake them look uneducated and stupid. Those get very few answer.

Some questions are very specific and serious; people simply don't know the answer. See, for example http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AoaKwxrz47_pkN4gvZ_rzOLsy6IX?qid=20060815190216AAbY9aG

On the other hand, some other questions are asking to be made fun of, and that anyone can do, and many people do so, hapilly. Those are actually not real questions, but mostly attention-getters.

The number of answers depends upon how interesting the question is and on the time of day and day of the week it is asked. Also, the more general a question is (meaning that more people will have an answer for it,) the more answers it will get. Specialized questions will get fewer answers because not everyone knows an answer to them.

see, it depends on the question - how interesting, exciting or just easy it is to answer. then, I guess, time also matters as well as the day of the week - at least, that's what I noticed. and some question provoke strong reactions from people - when they r rude or something, u know... people do respond faster.
personally, I answer questions either if I know the answer or I have something to share abt the topic... not just a silly word combination to get 2 extra points.

Hi, its all to do with timing. The ranking of the question at time of asking. Interest, if it is easy and quick to answer , these questions seem more successfully as it is an easy 2 points.

I think it all depends on the mood that people are in. Sometimes they are in the mood for short questions and give short answers or you get thepeople that will read an essay to try and help you find and answer. I love it when I hit the jackpot on answers and get lots of answers it makes me feel important or something.

Simple easy-to-answer questions get too many answers.

The questions which need a near research to get the correct answers get only a few answers. Confusing questions receive nO answers.

Some are controversial, divisive, and/or just plain interesting while others are blah or just plain stupid. Some people can just check online for the answers to their questions but choose to waste time and space.

Some questions are so simple that anyone can answer them. It seems like the really offensive questions, and the really thoughtless questions get the biggest response. Not very many people want to answer something they really have to think about.

it's a case-to-case basis. Some questions don't get noticed since hundreds of questions are posted almost every minute. Also, there are some questions that only certain people can answer, professionals for instance.

It depends on the introduction. Some people come in here to relax and earn two points and dont get serious really. Insults, jokes, riddles, and silly stuff take the cake.
