The key part of what he said was in the wording.
Research shows: This is going off of observations, not fact.
Calming effect: This is an effect, not the actual process.
I think men are calmed by the fact that they have women around them.
This can take so many different forms though. Is this an aggressive sense? An anxiety sense? A stressful sense?
In each area you can specualate as to why this would be true.
Aggression in the sense of an idiom will be calmed because some men(key word some) believe(key word believe) that women prefer(key word prefer) a gentleman(key word gentleman).
A lot of what men experience, and women as well is based completely and utterly upon the power of suggestion. Even if the suggestion is wrong, and can be proved wrong through experience these beliefs are still held with extreme prejudice against any aggravating factors.
So if it's an anxiety sense. Women being around men will calm their senses. They won't be looking for guidance when a woman is around. They switch into a more intuitive mode of thinking. Why? Because of idioms again. Men don't want women that they find desirable to see their calculating side, women are the same. So by allowing themselves to live in the moment and being responsive to women they are seen as more friendly. This "friendliness" they believe will spread into a deeper psychological connection, and thus someday will lead to love... If only the poor fools knew the truth.
In terms of stress, things get messy. Stress is such a blanket idea. It encorporates every type of psychological pain, and equates the only solution to stress as a relief of this "pain". If you want to see women as being calming in this sense than it completely depends on what is "observed"(There is the rub) as being stressful to another individual. An overactive mind will become calm when it believes it will recieve a reward. Being told to be calm, only works when there is a promise of something to come, a possibly fun interaction...
in other words, sex.

You're wasting your time, and your money. "Estroven" is a herbal concoction containing mostly soy isoflavones and extract of black cohosh, with a few vitamins thrown in; it is sold for the purpose of relieving symptoms of menopause. The constituents of this 'supplement' are phytoestrogens; these are weak hormonal chemicals intended to effect the growth of the plants they are derived from. They are not strong enough to compete with naturally-occurring hormones in the human body. It has NO measurable effect on a human body which is producing testosterone or oestrogen for itself (If it did, you may be quite sure that trans women everywhere would be buying it in bulk). The vitamins in it might do you some good, though....

I never noticed men becoming calm when I come around. Men are aggressive. But older men seem to be more sensible than younger men.
