Did you watch the William Shatner Roast? What did you think of it? Were you disappointed?

It wasn't much about W.S. It seemed
to be more about the guests saying
ignorant, contemporary "I can get
away with this" filth, and everybody
applauding and laughing like they
thought it was "cool." I think W.S.
is much too dignified to be roasted
in this cheap manner. It was like
nobody could come up with really
funny stuff, so they just talked like
pigs. What do you think?

Did it seem like all the speeches
were written by the same
raunchy group of writers?

Some of it was okay, but I was kind of put off by the general lack of class. A little raunch is fine and expected, but it got to be too much. The women roasters were funny without getting too raunchy. I liked the old-school roasts (the Dean Martin ones come to mind) where they did not have to constantly resort to such crude jokes to be funny, and they were hilarious. Dean Martin, Buddy Hackett, Bob Newhart, Rodney Dangerfield, Don Rickles, Tim Conway, Carol Burnett....those guys did it great.

What was up with Farrah Fawcett anyway? I hadn't seen her in some time and was surprised how terribly she aged (she looked like she had some plastic surgery that changed her appearance for the worse...). Plus she acted like she was half-loaded....

Disappointed.. and felt badly for William Shatner, having to sit through that, and smile. He is definitely better than this.. everyone that showed up tonight, and spoke, owe Mr. Shatner a huge apology.. No one gave any thought to what they were going say, it was all.. senseless, filthy, unkind, dribble.
I really am ashamed by how people behave..
