I liked it. I thought Johnny Depp as Wood and Martin Landau as Bela Lugosi were excellent, the script was interesting, it was interesting seeing how all those sci fi flics came into being. I did not know it was rated R. Maybe it had to do with the cross dressing subject, its kinda disorienting to some people I guess, seeing a guy happily wearing a girl's fluffy sweater.

Basically a good movie, but it's best if you're a movie buff to really like it!
I actually know the real girlfriend to the Real Ed Wood. She's a singer and songwriter and she wrote songs for Elvis Presley. She lives in Las Vegas now, married to the son of the second man of fly the Atantic non-stop from the US to Europe.
Ed Wood is a Z movie director. A wannabee who dives in and makes a film on $10,000 (which is almost impossible to do) for low buget distributors.
It's a very funny movie!
My favorite part is when he askes the Cameraman which looks better the Red one or the Blue on and the camermans says: "I'm color blind!"
The swimming pool bit is great too.
It's a total hoot AND the movie is ABSOLUTELY TRUE.
Ed Wood is the man who directed Plan Nine from Outer Space and the movie I Changed My Sex or Glenn or Glenda!
And he was a good close friend of Bella Lugosi, the man who IS Dracula in the movies!

I personally thought it was a great movie. If you have ever seen Ed Wood's movies, you will see that they are actually portrayed quite accurately. Martin Landau was great as Bela Lugosi.
"Rated R for some strong language"

thumbs up --- agreeing with the kudos to J.Depp and the late, great Martin Landau and the man himself, Mr. Wood. I found it funny as hell as well as being disturbing. Depp plays Wood soooo over the top... sooo optimistic with that plastic smile delivery that when he's not smiling you feel the bummin'
and he seemed to be genuinely a good friend to Lugosi too.
p.s. is that why Depp lives in france now mostly in a chateau? did he get bit? ruh roh.

I thought it was pretty good. It was funny and strange in a good way. I'm a fan of most Johnny Depp films, though. The MPAA rated it R for some strong language.

My all time favorite. The guys a loser but loves what he does. He tries so hard to please everyone but he fails every time, but does that stop him?...Hell no. It was probably rated R for the Lugosi rant about Karloff.
