You get married because you either want to build a family, want some company, or just getting tired of chasing the opposite sex for their, ahem, "services". Hopefully your reasons for doing so start at the top of that list and eventually spread into the other reasons. Of course you don't have to get married unless you live in Iran or Kuwait or some place like that. It is a tougher road to follow though. The majority of people come in pairs, and not being that way has more of an impact on your life than people generally remember

There's no law in America that says people have to get married, many do though to show before family and friends their commitment to each other, and also to have the legal protections that a married couple have. But if you live together (cohabit) long enough, depending on what state you live in, you wind up having what's legally called a "common law" marriage, and you have the legal rights of a married couple anyway.

It's not that we must marry someone, it's just that most of society does so we feel compelled to get married. I know people who don't want to, or are not sure if they ever want to get married. I admire them in a way almost. They don't worry about it like the rest of us.

Marriage shouldn't be something we feel we must do. It should be something we want to do and for the right reasons. If you don't feel like getting married, there are no rules that says you have to.

I think marriage is a personal choice. Now, you don't even need to get married to raise kids. Just ask Mr Pitt and Ms Jolie.

Don't let anyone make you feel bad about not being able to speak proper English. At least you are trying. You don't have to marry if you don't want to.

Totally bad way to phrase that question. But no you don't have to get married there are numerous folks that are still single, or just dating and have kids out of wedlock or just single parents.

i like it. it's sweet. you don't have to but marriage in society is seen as commitment. so if the husband and wife commit their lives to eachother and it proves their love. if you don't then we'll all just run around wild.. which is.. fun...
