Hi,My hubby and I are TTC,and have been monitoring my temps. My LMP was July 25th,Ovulated the 6th,so when and what is normal for the raising body temps? When do I watch for a change or a rise in the temp to occur as a pregnancy sign that we did concieve? It has been high lately at around 99.3 - 99.7 this week, and it is 5 days from my next period is due. Any ideas or tips? Thanks!

your temp should rise about 1/2 - 1 full degree the day after ovulation. Ovulation occurs the day BEFORE the temperature rise. Your temps should stay high until you get your period (one single high temp does not indicate ovulation by itself, there needs to be a sustained rise) and will drop within a day or two of you getting your period. Some women who are pregnant notice a slight dip in their temps about 7-10 days after ovulation and then the temps will go up again. If your temps stay up for 15-18 days after ovulation/past the normal length of your luteal phase, there's a good chance you're pregnant. Some women who are pregnant notice a second increase in their temps at about 15 days post ovulation. However, this does not always indicate pregnancy and can occur in women who are not pregnant.

Not all women's temps are the same, and temps that are high for one woman might not be high for another. I am also trying to get pregnant and I've noticed that my post-ovulation temps have been higher than they were last cycle, but I don't know if this means I'm pregnant or if I'm going to start my period early or if there's another change that I'm not aware of. Looking at your basal body temps, it's unfortunately impossible to tell if you're pregnant prior to about 18 days post ovulation or prior to the end or your normal luteal phase (assuming your cycles are typically always the same length and you ovulate around the same day each cycle) because most women's luteal phases are 12-16 days. If your temps remain high past the normal length of your luteal phase, I'd say there's a good chance you're pregnant.

Fertility Friend (www.fertilityfriend.com) is a good site to chart on and determines when you most likely ovulated and helps you determine what some of your signs might mean.

Good luck!

It should go up after ovulation and if you are pregnant it will often go higher still, to a third level. This pattern is called triphasic and is often seen in pregnancy charts. It is not a definitive sign of pregnancy as it can also be seen in non-pregnant charts.

How high is a high temp.... well, that is pretty individual to the person. My temps are normally quite low so an upper 98s was quite high for me.

Your temp will rise right before ovulation. There may be a slight drop and then if you have conceived there will be a sharp rise that is a pretty good sign implantation has occured. If implantation occured your temps may remain slightly higher.
If you purchase a very sensitive pregnancy test (First Response etc.) that detects HCG at 20miu -you may test positive already!
GOOD LUCK!
