A realtor is a member of a board of realtors. The board of realtors set special guidelines for ethics and what-not. They are essentially the same, except that the realtor brand is a trademark that denotes that an agent has had extra training etc. Basically, the agent pays money, takes a couple classes and is classified as a realtor instead of a real estate agent.

A realtor has completed training and is part of the National Association of Realtors. They have passed ethics courses as well. A real estate agent is someone who is licensed to sell real estate.

A realtor is a member of a board of realtors, true...However, the total difference is a realtor is bound and held to a higher code of ethics that are very strict and one must always maintain the highest standards of professionalism, care, accountability, honesty, and integrity with their clients. Being a licensed Realtor really is an honor.
That is one of many reasons why I became a realtor....its an outstanding group of real estate professionals to be associated with.

A Realtor holds the same exact license but goes and gets certified to be called a Realtor. You can get it done in one day if you know which companies to use. Let's not forget, you do get a little pin that says Realtor on it. You do need the cert to have different levels of access to listings, keys, etc. Other than that-not much

I think a realtor is a company and a real estate agent is a person.

A realter would be like "Century 21" and the real estate agent would be the agent that works there. I think, im still trying to find the difference between an lawyer and an attorney.
