The Black Dahlia was a woman who was murdered in 1930s L.A.. Her real name was Elizabeth Short. She had the reputation of being a prostitute, but this may not be true. Her mutilated body was found in a vacant lot. She had been tortured, probably over a period of several days. Amongst other things, she had been cut in half at the waist. The crime remains unsolved.

There really was only one murder, a girl went to, I beleive California and was found dead, she was cut in half and was cut from ear to ear. They found her on a sidewalk. They beleive it had to be a doctor who done it, but the case is still open. Now I deserve 10 points for this.

There's a website dedicated to her story. I haven't looked at all of it, yet.

(eeewwww. the website is gruesome. it really details the story, though.)
