It depends what you are trying to achieve with self-hypnosis. I teach a lot of it, especially to pregnant women and they experience better sleep, a more peaceful day in general, a clearer mind, and you can also use self-hypnosis to give yourself subconscious suggestions to wash out negative progamming.

I use it all the time. Many of us do. Ever see an athlete do visualization before a big race. This is what is what I do. As an ultradistance cyclists as well as a hypnotist, I use hypnosis to help me visual a course I might be riding in the next few weeks. I see myself making the climbs quickly and easily. Where I really use it is descending. I see myself going down technical descents very quickly, easily and safely.

I've never done self hypnosis but I have bought self help tapes to listen to. You know, motivational tapes. The helped me realize that I'm not alone feeling the way I do and that I am a special person.

Its about realizing your ability to feel different perceptions of your outside world and using those to improve your life. Its based on your own experience with it so your mileage will very. I've only accomplished what I was willing to so far which isn't much more since I'm still working on fear. But its really about replacing all the negative unrealistic comments in your life with more positive realistic ones. Good Luck, its best to based it on you own life experiences then to learn it from any another one source too.
