Earlier today I noticed a big white glob of something after wiping. I didn't think too much of it at the time, but after using the bathroom again I was curious and decided I wanted to feel my cervix just to see what it felt like at this stage of pregnancy, but when I did I could tell that it wasn't closed. Then I thought about the white glob earlier and now I am really freaked out. I have not had any bleeding, cramping or anything that feels different than usual. I was wondering if I could have a miscarriage, or, if it was the mucus plug what will happen and when? Will I know if something is wrong? Please someone help me. I am really scared right now.

I don't think you've formed a mucus plug yet all the way. Im 15 weeks pregnant and i have a white discharge too, all the time, I dont know what it is but i know its gross. if your not cramping or bleeding I wouldn't worry about it. and your cervix is just softening and swollen anyway, (getting ripe) any way if you're really concerned call your doctor.

Be calm. I am pretty sure you should never check your own cervix when you are pregnant, and if I was feeling mine, I am pretty sure I would not know what I was feeling(and I have had 3 kids). That said, you could have a yeast infection, or your horomones could be causing a thicker than usual discharge. Worrying is bad, the good thing is, no blood, no cramping. Make an appt. with your Dr. in the morning, and if you have pain go to the ER. Your body is going through something amazing right now, and with it comes so many changes and worries. I had a miscarriage 1 time and it was just blood and clumps, I cannot say that I ever saw a mucus plug (that was at about 8 weeks) I did have blood tinged mucus when I went into labor 2 of my 3 deliveries, and it came with contractions, bleeding, pain, pressure. Don't worry, just try to stay mellow and call in the morning. Oh- and don't have intercourse until you talk to your Dr.!

It could possibly be your cervix... I'd call your doctor in the morning just to be on the safe side same thing happened to me at 20 weeks along I started to dialte. I thought I lost my mucus plug to find out it was part of my cervix they did a cerclage on me and thankfully it kept my little guy in until 33 weeks and 3 days. Now he is a healthy 2 1/2 year old... Plus they did a cerclage with this pregnancy also to try and not have that happen again...Good luck and try and relax

Don't panic. Sometimes you will get thick discharge. It isn't your mucus plug. It's typical to get some discharge in the beginning and then it goes away and will come back at the end of the pregnancy.
If you are really stressing about this, Call your OB/gyn and make can appointment to get checked out.
I'm thinking this is your first pregnancy and that's why your stressing out. You can stress out over ever little cramp or discharge.
The only time you need to get stressed out is if you start to spot or bleed.
Take it easy and make an appointment to see your doctor.
Good luck and don't stress yourself out. It isn't good on you or your baby.

well first of all how can you tell that your cervix is open? is this your first pregnancy, i think it is way to early to lose your plug, call your on call doctor they will answer any questions day or night and give you the guidance on what to do next. pregnancy is a big waiting game, you can tell them i have cramps they say just wait, you can say im having contractions, just wait, so i would say just wait through the night and see what happens next. relax everything will be ok, it is normal to have discharge at random times. just breathe. also to corroberate (sp?) the answer above the plug (in laymans terms) looks like a giant handful of snot which doesnt happen til the end.

First of all , a lot of discharge is very normal in pregnancy. Especially earlier months.
I would call your midwife/doctor and tell them you are concerned. In the meantime try to relax and not worry. Your cervix may have a larger opening and may seem to be open, when actually everything is fine.
Hang in there.

The mucous plug is usually brownish and has some blood in it. It probably is just a discharge. Take a breath, relax. Are you having any pain? Any spotting at all? Call you doctor TONIGHT if that's happening, otherwise, call your doctor in the morning if you're still concerned. Best of luck!

You should check with your DR anytime you are worried. But here are my thoughts--Nah, you probably didn't lose your plug. The mucus plug is usually bloody anyhow. And no cramping...etc. You are probably fine.

Check with your DR---but increased vaginal discharge is NORMAL when pregnant. White/clear--is fine. It's called leucorrhoea. Yellow, smelly, itchy....etc....that's when there might be an infection and you should call for an appt as they are a nuisance...yeast infections are quite common.

hi this would not sound like your mucus plug as this happens on the threshold of exertions. i might advise that it somewhat is from implantation bleeding, yet any bleeding or unusual discharge might desire to be stated on your midwife/medical expert on the instant away. Im constructive all would be ok as this isn't any longer bright pink blood, yet greater desirable to get it looked at to be secure. good success including your being pregnant and congratulations! xx

you should call your OB. Usually if the cervix is opening it means a miscarriage in imminent. They could try to put in a cerclage (sp?), a stitch in the cervix that hold it shut (done when a woman has a history of miscarriage caused by incompetent cervix), but if it has begun to open they may not be able to stop it. See your doctor and good luck!!!
