Dale Jr. and Emerson fittipaldi have answered this specifically a couple years ago on speed channel. They try to go right before they get in the car but if they start driving and can't hold they will just go. They don't wear any diapers or anything they will just make a mess in the car. Dale Jr won a race two years ago where he pullled into winners circle and seemed to disappear and later admitted he had to go to the bathroom. Emerson Fittipaldi said in his career he has peed in his car, inside his suit a couple times and knows that other drivers have too.

To dispell all the rumors - drivers do not crap or piss for that matter while driving. They go to the bathroom right before they get in there car. As far as urinating - they are sweating so much that they rarely have to go - if they do they just hold it.

Booty Baker a crew chief with a NASCAR Nextel cup team clarified this a few weeks ago in his weekly article on NASCAR.com. It's out on Fridays and it titled urban legends. He dispells or confirms rumors about NASCAR.

SO to clarify there are no cathethers, piss bags or diapers being worn by the drivers.

If they are sick they have an alternate driver. If they just have to crap while driving they just hold it. But if they are sick sometimes the driver will drive as many laps as he can to get some points and then hand it off to the alternate.

Anyone remember when Tony Stewart won at Watkins Glen in 2004 and he "couldn't talk right now"? That was the year he had the flu... Any guesses why he couldn't talk to reporters and Zippy was walking right behind him? He's not the only one that's ever done it he's just the one that was obvious hehe.

lotta time when they would not race because diarrhea dehydrates you andwith the heat generated in a race car you are just asking for trouble

They hold it! Well, i hope! they obviously cannot stop because that would take WAY to much time...keep in mind that the lead can be won or lost because of .2 seconds wasted in the pit stops....
