He wasn't chosen. FDR died. Truman became president because he was next in the line of succession.

Your question is loaded because it presumes that Truman was incapable and Brynn was capable. You tried to give your responders no choice to decide otherwise.

But questions like yours are completely transparent.

Truman was capable. Brynn was not. Live with my opinion.

Wish he were here today, he wasn't owned by anyone, didn't owe any favors and was a simple poor Missourian! Yet he lead this country in historic times, made his own decisions and took responsibility for his every action, as in, "The buck stops here" a plaque on his desk in the Oval Office, The last decent man in our Presidency was Eisenhower, compare him to what we have today. Never again and we are all the poorer for it!
