OK, here's the deal. I went to a very good (yes, Ivy League) university & was pursuing a graduate degree. The thing is, I just hated it & I wasn't happy at all & I was so bored. I gained a lot of weight also during this time.

So, recently I have lost the weight & for the first time in a long time I feel really great. I adore clothes & anything artistic really & I would love to be a model of some kind (print, catalog, not runway because I'm far too old obviously!). I also love to travel so I would like a career that doesn't hold me to one spot.

Money wise, I own my home, car, and I don't have any bills to pay. I am by no means rich but I don't really have to work. Am I crazy for pursuing this dream?

My boyfriend is a bit of a snob & thinks someone w/ my education should do something more intellectual, but I've done that, and I had no passion for it. So...

What do you think? thank you!

Hey Carrie,

I feel that u are just bored with current stage, as most things do not post excitment for u at the moment. It is good that u found ur calling and want to pursuit it. But u need to get real and consider the best and worst possible situations if either you continue ur studies or jump on to a modeling career.

Ultimately, u are leading ur life and it is critical to be happy. But in the real world, things can be exciting at the beginings and boring as it goes on. What matters most is the intention that drives you to take on that particular calling. How pure and clear you are that you would really enjoy this job? Are you willing to do all things necessary to succeed? Is there an alternative (like an air stewardess or travel journalist)??

Education is very important for the growth of minds, but not as a tool to be successful. A degree would open doors of choices for a career but nothing definitely successful. It all boils down to u.

Good Luck and may you make the right choice and take on a path of success and happiness.

Warmest Regards.

No I don't think you were stupid for quitting school. You obviously were not enjoying it. HOWEVER....

Have you given thought to what you will do in another 10 years or so when you are older and not able to model? Whilst you are having your fun, you need to be planning ahead. There are lots of jobs you could train to do after modelling to keep up the glamorous lifestyle. What about studying to become a makeup artist, photographer, public relations officer etc?

Since you have already quit school, it's not really wise for any of us to tell you to go back. You are right... if it's not for you, it's not for you. You can always go back in a year, two years, ten years if you choose or need to. As for modeling, it's a tough thing to get into, but you cannot win if you don't enter (Publishers Clearinghouse slogan). It's your life to make your own decisions, good or bad. Don't talk about it ... DO IT!!!

You may not realize your true potential if you do not challenge yourself.Don't let your life go to waste and do something that you can make a difference either in yours or someone else.
