everyone in my middle school says i should tryout for cheerleading, even my family, relatives, close friends, etc thinks so too.. they say im "cheerleading material".. but i dont know if i should because i dont wanna tryout alone. my friends think cheerleading is gay and think cheerleaders are all self-centered.. but i had a dream yesterday night that i tryed out and made it in the squad.. it was really funny... but i think cheerleading will be good for college. ..
p.s: sorry if this is in the wrong catagory.. i dont know where else to put it in..

Do it. Explain to your friends that the self-centered cheerleader image is just a stereotype. There are self-centered cheerleaders in middle school, but I knew cheerleaders who are really cool people too. You'll probably make new friends on the cheerleading squad, and you can hang out with your other friends in your spare time. Since everyone says you should try out, it probably means that you've got a lot of talent- and you should use it. Cheerleading will be good for college by the way... but so will any other after school activity that you devote a lot of time and effort to. But if cheerleading's what you love, do it because it'll be fun. I don't have the talent to be a cheerleader but it always looked fun to me... :) Anyway if you don't like cheerleading once you're on the team, you can always quit the squad next year, but if you never try out for cheerleading, you can't turn back time and try out if you regret it. Good luck with the tryouts! :)

Well, if you are not gay then cheer leading is not just for gay people, and if you are not self centered it is not just for self centered people. If you think you are cheer leading material and others think so as well what are you waiting for. The spot is yours, go!

it really doesn't matter what your friends think if you want to be in cheer then go for it, then don't...but don't do it just to be popular or whatever beacsue thats a mistake..cheer is hard work. you have to perfect your jumps and take tumbling classes and learn how to stunt..its hard core
but if your friends don't support you, you know they're not your real friends

it can only help you in your scholastic life - you will be dialed in to the pulse of your school be it high school, college, middle school, whatever - it will give you confidence and a sense of self - don't let your friends affect you decision, they are probably paralyzed by their own fear - step up and do what you want to do - I say go for it!

If you don't want to don't and if you try out, make it, then don't like it, you've got yourself in a tight situation. Just stay out of it in the first place, and you'll be fine.
