My husband felt that way about a band he first saw in 1980 at Madame Wong's in Los Angeles. He liked them so much he ended up driving to San Francisco to see their next date at the Cow Palace. Whenever they came back to LA, he made sure to see them again at Madame Wong's.
You might have heard of them now though- U2.

The Dresden Dolls, self-proclaimed artists of "punk-cabaret."
Quite possibly the most original band I've come across in some time, and the lyrics are amazing. Amanda Palmer plays piano and Brian Viglione plays the drums.

Heard one just this morning on Channel 6 in Chickasha, OK from the Epworth United Methodist Church. The singer played the guitar and sang two country gospel songs he had written himself. He has been to Nashville and back.

The Matthew Good Band for me. They played them a lot in the late 90's on Much Music that was mostly Canadian. Their songs "Apparitions" and "Running for Home" are amazing.

I recently discovered this awesome band, I'm not sure if they're well known though, none of my friends know them -- Jimmy Eat World. I can relate to every one of their songs, I feel like they could write the whole soundtrack to my life! My favourite song by far is "My Sundown". I recommend you listen to them too!

A waitress that worked at the local Freindly's restaurant belts out Janis Joplin better than anybody I have ever heard. I cried at how amazing her vocal range and tone was!
